- The 2014 Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition will debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show, but Chrysler told Edmunds there are no plans to sell the special model in the U.S. at this point.
- The Wrangler Polar Edition features a new Hydro Blue exterior paint treatment.
- Other details include a new front grille with black accents, a hard spare-tire cover and Polar White interior trim.
"It's for Europe only," said Michele Callender, a Chrysler spokeswoman in a phone conversation on Wednesday. "No decision has been made about the U.S."
The special model will go on sale in the first quarter of 2014 for the two-door Wrangler and four-door Wrangler Unlimited. Pricing was not announced.
The Wrangler Polar Edition can be equipped with either a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine or a 3.6-liter V6 gasoline engine.
The Wrangler Polar Edition features a new Hydro Blue exterior paint treatment.
Other details include a new front grille with black accents, a hard spare-tire cover and Polar White interior trim.
"Jeep Wrangler Polar takes its cue from the severe climate and extreme conditions that characterize the Antarctic region," said Chrysler in a statement.
The Polar badge on the Wrangler's exterior displays coordinates that correspond to the location of Vostok in Antarctica, where Chrysler says the "absolute severest temperature" in the world was recorded. A hood decal shows an outline of mountains.
Standard equipment includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated front seats.
Edmunds says: U.S. buyers are frozen out of this Jeep Wrangler special model for the time being.
