Sleek, solid, smooth, sexy, safe, sophisticated
OK, I purchased this as the first kid on the block right out of the box and admit I did so with a fair measure of anxiety. Dad often said, “Never buy the first model of any vehicle.”
But I’d waited over six months. I had to have it, so I leaped!
Six weeks and 1401 miles into it, I could not be more impressed – … nearly flawless and too much fun to drive. It’s not your dad’s Wrangler. Jeep didn’t intend it to be.
Sleek – inside and out
Inside: dash and instrument cluster: fully integrated, not like an afterthought laptop slapped on the dash; 45” of screen including a passenger only screen HDMI connectable device for audio and video streaming. You’ll want a microfiber cloth in the gloves compartment to easily wipe away the fingerprints on the piano black dash.
Outside: style forward curb appeal without the gingerbread; Jeep iconic lighted seven slot grill across the bow; panoramic sunroof; unique winged air foiling spoiler over the rear window reducing drag, improving mileage and eliminating the need for a wiper; a LED taillight encircles and lights up the stern.
Solid – simply the security you experience as its driven; steering is responsive and feels the road.
Smooth – amazing torque; with 600HP this beast flies; seats – soft, comfortable, supportive; cabin oh-so quiet.
Sexy – McIntosh speakers, 19 of them create a concert hall environment; front driver and passenger seats heated and ventilated with massage; rear seat heated and vented; squircle steering wheel; ambient interior lighting; electric door openers; did I mention 45” of fully integrated screen over the dash?
Safe – safety features too numerous to count, but include headlights that light up the night for inclusive view of the road; panoramic digital rearview camera; audio AND video blind spot warning; Active Driver assist; heads-up windshield display; automated side view mirrors; reassuring brakes; voice activated navigation.
Sophisticated – fit and finish luxury throughout; over the air (OTA) software updates with home Wi-Fi connect; intuitive U-connect system software with Apple Car Play or Android Auto.
To truly benefit from the extraordinary array of features, spend time siting in the cabin with Uconnect to explore and customize the Wagoneer S to your liking.
Range? Better than advertised kilowatt/mile. EPA predicts 303 range, but my jury is still out and will be until driven through the seasons. Know that driving either an EV or ICE vehicle the weather and driving conditions significantly impact mileage. I have a home charger and strongly recommend included in purchase Jeep’s Level 2 offer for overnight charging if you don’t have one.
Value: comparably equipped, appointed luxury: Wagoneer S $71,000, Lyriq $74,500+, Rivian R1S $76,700+, Tesla Y (NA, not luxuriously appointed), Kia EV9 $73,900, Genesis GV 70E $73,750. Meets Federal EV incentive of $7500 granted at point of purchase.
PS: I’ll leave rock climbing and off roading up to the Wranglers!
