2002 Cadillac Escalade EXT
The pinnacle of a bygone era. These trucks will spoil your opinions on the stuff they build in 2022. They have too many cool features to count, and fit the perfect niche between luxury and utility.
One of the lesser known features that I absolutely love is the mid-gate behind the rear seat. You can actually remove the rear window and mid-gate to fit cargo that would require an 8ft truck … bed which is useful, but I like to take it out in the summer for more of an open top jeep feel with the windows/sunroof down.
The air suspension rides like butter on these HORRENDOUS Michigan roads, and the AWD system is second to none. It snowed 10 inches here last week and I was running 70mph down the express way with confidence.
The High Output LQ9 is also noteworthy, as it runs noticeably better than the standard 6.0 truck engine and lends itself to easy performance upgrades. Will hurt the feelings of Hemi owners.
The only downside is at the very best, you're going to get 16mpg, and you're going to average more like 13mpg, and she only tolerates premium go-go juice. You gotta pay the cost to be the boss, as they say.
My first EXT (Black 2002) has over 270k miles on it (and counting), with the original engine and transmission still in it. I loved it so much, I bought my wife one (White 2003).
