We are a Family of 5. Three growing boys, our Villager is great. We have bucket seats in the second row. We always keep one seat out for the added room, and put it back when we need it!Our Villager has served us well!

Gas mileage actually stinks!

We are very happy with the way the van drives. It drives much smoother and quieter than our Ford Explorer did. Only thing that we don't like is that our gas mileage is much worse with the Villager than our Explorer. We are only getting 17 miles per gallon! Also, my show dog Chaos, doesn't like the van at all. He is use to riding in the front seat in my Explorer, and the seat in the Villager is not big enough for him in the front seat beside me. He instantly jumps to the middle seat when we get in the van. Otherwise, I do like the van a lot.

We bought our '99 Villager Estate used in 2002. It has served us well. I did have the accelerator problem, and Ford wanted a small fortune to fix it. So I took the car to a local shop with experience with Villagers, and they fixed the sticky accelerator by cleaning the assembly. No problem, cheap fix, works fine. We took this van to Yellowstone last summer, and it performed flawlessly. I did order a used digital radio/player from a salvage yard and had it installed when the lights faded and went out on the old one. It's nice to have somebody to work on these minor fixes who knows the vehicle. We especially like the bucket middle seats (all leather) and the reclining seats. Good van.

Purchased used in 2002 with 30K. My first Mercury. I've always owned Nissans. I've had a lot of problems with this van. The gas pedal sticks, the sliding door windows rattle and won't stay open, rear wiper doesn't work, rear auto windows don't work, A/C doesn't work. The transmission jerks going from 1st to 2nd gear. Had the valve-body replaced twice. Had the box that controls trasmission twice. The transmission still jerks. The Check Engine light has been on for the past 5 years. Took it to 2 dealerships, no one can figure out why the light stays on. Battery and oil lights have been on for the past 6 mo even though I had both checked. I would never buy another Villager again.

Loved My Villager

Have been driving Villagers for 15 years--my '99 was my second one and I'm very sad to be selling it and moving on. It was so easy to drive, a comfortable ride, and I've loved the versatility and ease of reconfiguring the space for the load (even for a woman!). It carried my Girl Scouts and their gear camping and on troop trips--and as the "cookie van", it held over 1000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies without removing any seats!

223,000 miles and still going!

This has been an excellent van! Bought it brand shiny new and have driven it for EIGHTEEN years since 1999! It is time to sell it, but I will miss its roominess, reliability, dependability, and comfort. And its unique green color- you don't see that color very often now. It has transported so many things- kids (who are grown and gone now), surfboards and sandy towels, furniture, dogs, moving boxes, friends, and the list goes on. It makes various clunks and other noises now but hasn't had a major repair in a looooong time, despite it being driven a bit rougher than it should be (too fast over windy mountain roads, too long without an oil change, etc.). The paint is fading, the leather seats are worn, and it is a lot like the Velveteen Rabbit- very worn from years of use and love. This has been one reliable, sturdy, comfortable, and useful van, and my family definitely got our money's worth from our 18 years owning this van! How many people can say they've driven a vehicle for 18 years!?
