Test Driver Ratings & Comments

Acceleration commentsUtterly uneventful regardless of mode (Comfort, Normal, Sport, S+). It went down the drag strip with authority, but not what I wouild call surprising quickness. I did notice that the batteries didn't charge as quickly on the deceleration from 100 mph as quickly as some other "high-performance" hybrids in this class.
Braking commentsSome initial dive, but not the kind that digs up the pavement. Arrow straight and nearly silent while scrubbing the speed down, even with considerable weight behind it. Mild distance creep and odor started after the third stop, but the pedal remained steady.
Handling commentsSlalom: Clearly, this is not the kind of test this car enjoys. Regardless of mode, the LS leans over and flops around like a barge. It's reluctant to transition and feels as heavy as it is. The steering is fingertip light, yet very precise. Skid pad: Also a tortuous test for this car, as the tires began squealing well before the stability control kicked in. Steering is again precise but distant.
