The 2026 Electrified Genesis GV70 builds on the prowess of its gas-powered counterpart, which is our top-rated compact luxury SUV. The electric version shares the same smooth ride and luxury trappings, but with even snappier acceleration and performance. It's held back by a mediocre 236-mile range estimate, but a new larger battery promises to improve on that figure.

2026 Genesis Electrified GV70 Review
Overview

Four years after its debut, the midsize Genesis Electrified GV70 gets a handful of updates similar to its standard GV70 gas-powered counterpart. You'll need to look closely to see some changes — revised headlights, bolder lower grille styling — but they're more pronounced inside. Unlike many EVs, the Electrified GV70 shares underpinnings with its gas companion. We've seen mixed results with that approach, but not here. The EV rides as smooth and gracefully as the GV70, one of our favorite SUVs in the class. A slightly larger battery promises more range (still unannounced), which the Electrified GV70 needs to keep pace with its electric luxury rivals.
Edmunds spotlight: New in-car tech shines, but range still TBD
Genesis has firmly established itself as the value leader in luxury SUVs and sedans. The brand's marketers might prefer you to think only of its lush trappings, but the winning strategy of delivering more for less than other luxury rivals is hard to ignore. The Electrified GV70's standard driver assist features alone make most competitors feel like budget models. For 2026, the battery-powered GV70 gets a new 27-inch horizontal dash display that integrates its digital gauges and infotainment touchscreen and offers an optional Bang & Olufsen premium audio system. A larger battery pack offers about 8% more capacity and could boost the current model's mediocre stated range of 236 miles. We managed 255 miles in our real-world Edmunds EV Range Test, and we're waiting to hear an official announcement on the new model's range. A redesigned charge port also enables access to Tesla Superchargers. Be sure to read our Expert Rating below to see why we're bullish on the electric GV70.
Competitors to consider
The Electrified GV70's tweener footprint (larger than compact, smaller than midsize) gives it more breathing room than the Tesla Model Y or Volvo XC40, but puts it up more squarely with newer rivals like the Audi Q6 E-tron or more affordable Cadillac Optiq and Polestar 4. The Lexus RZ might be worth a look, although its range is even more limited. Those with deeper pockets and a taste for performance might find the Porsche Macan EV a desirable alternative.
Which Electrified GV70 does Edmunds recommend?
The standard AWD trim with 19-inch wheels comes so well equipped that we don't see much need for most buyers to upgrade. You get premium leather, heated front seats, about a dozen driver assist features, and the handy vehicle-to-load charging feature that lets you power small devices and appliances. The 19-inch wheels should also deliver a bit more range than the larger 20-inch versions on the two upper trims.

2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 Advanced 4dr SUV AWD (electric DD)
Foremost, the smooth/ oh-so-smooth ride and the quiet/very quiet interior at speed. Steering is uncanny and power (Boost!) is frightening, but FUN. Elegant and tasteful inetrior with great tech, 'cept for having to cable Android Auto. and 2nd row seats tilt (my costly BMW 5X did not!!!???). Exterior styling is somewhat strange, but all the other features massage thqat away...

2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 Advanced 4dr SUV AWD (electric DD)
Car started leaking into passenger area. In 5 1/2 months owning vehicle, it has been in shop for same issue 3 times for a combined 40-50 days. Their idea of customer service is to say sorry, present no solutions, make unfulfilled promises and not return calls, as promised. Will NEVER purchase Genesis/Hyundai again!
Amazing luxury EV, poor reliability, power issues

2024 Genesis Electrified GV70 Advanced 4dr SUV AWD (electric DD)
Purchased a GV70 Electrified in May 2023, after reviewing many premium EV's. After 16k miles and 18 months, my impressions: the car is wonderful to drive; fast, quiet, comfortable, excellent sound system. Recent upgrade allows wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Downside - the car has been in the shop many times for power issues, that were severe enough to have to tow it to the … dealership. They don't know enough about this platform, and Genesis USA and Korea isn't helpful. Range isn't the best, so you have to plan your longer trips with time for charging stations. I'm hopeful that the 2025's have solved the power issues.
Update 6-2025: My GV70 Electrified was a lemon - it was purchased back by the dealership. I spoke with the service manager and he said they have had numerous issues with the platform. I love the car, but will stay away until I see that these issues have been resolved.

Super fun to drive. Fast as all get out, down side is the 236 mile range. Works for me for around locally with the kids and I work five minutes from home, but pretty limited on trips.
