I drove all the way from Bellevue to inspect a used 2006 Audi A4 that was advertised as great condition. They claimed it was serviced by their own team before the sale. The sales people were nice, seemed sincere and believed the car was as advertised. However, within 24 hours of bringing the car home the check engine lights went on, the service indicator went on and the brakes started to make noises. I called the sales people and they promised to take care of the problem if I bring the vehicle back during the week. Before I could bring the vehicle in, the brakes got progressively worse and sounded like it had serious problems. I called them back to tell them I didn't think it was safe to drive all the way from Bellevue to Sumner. Since the sales people weren't available I left a message with one of the other staff. I waited. I never got a call back. There was no way I would continue driving with a car in that condition, considering I have a 7 month old baby in the back seat. I got the vehicle inspected by a reputable local service center. Apparently, the vehicle had not been serviced in a long time and one engine component was really worn out. It looked like someone had temporarily reset the check engine indicator without having properly serviced the car. The noise from the brakes was because someone tried to install brakes that weren't compatible with the car and it was interfering with the disk. They also didn't install it properly so there was a loose part. The brakes could have failed at any point. The cost to resolve these issues was $1300. The dealer eventually called back and when I told them the cost of repairs to make the car safe to drive, the manager basically said "tough luck...you bought the car as is". This is the worse experience I've ever had in buying a car. After selling me a car that was unsafe to drive, I was told to get lost. I just bought a used 2008 VW GTI for my wife from Chaplins last week and the experience was completely opposite. This was the same place I bought a brand new Legacy GT from and the service was amazing. It's hard to believe how two dealership can be so different.
