Here is my write up of my experience with Sheehy Ford in Springfield VA. I'm only doing this so that it is documented, in case others have similar experiences. From other reviews I've read about Sheehy Springfield after I bought my car, I'm guessing that there are a number of complaints against them. Just to give you some background too. I've been doing my best to buy American and do my part to help the economy. I am very happy with the Ford Focus 2012. It is a great product and was well worth the wait as I watched it over the last couple of years. This however is my experience with Ford Sheehy: I do take responsibility for being taken by these [violative content deleted], but it still doesn't make it right. I bought a 2012 Ford Focus and in order to reserve it before it came in they told me I had to sign all of the loan papers. Other dealers allow you to put down a $500 reservation deposit, but this dealer didn't allow it. So, I went in to sign all of the papers and I signed everything up until the final loan document and odometer reading document. The loan document wasn't showing the OTD (Out The Door) price that we had agreed on and I couldn't see the odometer, so I didn't sign those. It was closing time and they told me it was already reserved, so we'd resolve it the following day. The next day (Monday) I was told that the car arrived and if I didn't get in right away, they would sell it to someone in the service department that wanted it. I came in and they couldn't find the car, but said I had to sign the corrected OTD loan document and the odometer document at 4 miles or they would sell it to the service guy. I stupidly signed it, because I wanted the car and trusted that 4 miles was what I'd find on the brand new car right off the delivery truck. When I came in the next day to pick it up (Tuesday at 6pm), they couldn't find the car and said it must be locked up in the service department. Again on Wednesday at 7pm, the same thing. They couldn't find it and thought it was locked in the service center. And on Thursday at 7pm, the same thing. Each time they new I was coming to pick it up. Friday, I arrived there at 4pm and they had it, but it had 102 miles on it and it was scuffed up a bit on the inside. The explanation was that Ford was test driving them for 100 miles and the explanation for the 14.9 mpg reading is that the car was left running for a very long time at the Ford plant. The sales manager (Dean) refused to come outside and look at the car with me even though it was parked 20 feet from his chair. He was too busy having a personal conversation with another sales associate. His sales people were fairly nice about it and they did come out for further inspection of the car. After 20-30 minutes of discussion, I finally decided to accept the car as is and although I really enjoy the car, I have some regrets for not walking away from it. I don't know what damage was done in those 102 miles. If it had 14.9 mpg for 102 miles, I think someone had some fun driving this car. The following week when going through the glove box, I discovered that the Virginia state inspection sticker, signed by a Sheehy Service person said the odometer read 5 miles. I also found a post on a forum from 2008 where someone had a very similar experience. Again, I think an investigation is needed.
