Lindsay Manassas Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram
Dealership Sales Review
For my purchase, Lindsay was always hiding/lying about the numbers. Started with my trade. They offered $6,000 and represented that was NADA average trade-in value and so a fair offer. But NADA average trade-in value is actually over $12,000 and a clean trade is $14,000. They didn't blush when I later pointed out that their numbers were $6,000 below NADA and thus not a fair price. Got that negotiated only to find that the "dealer discount" of over $10,000 off MSRP that I was getting was not actually true either. The form shows the big discount number write under the MSRP, but then way down after tax, tags, etc. they add back in a bump charge of over $3,000. What's that? Well its the discounts you don't qualify for. Though this was my second trip to the dealership to work out a deal, this was first time anyone had mentioned that the full advertised discount was not in play. Showing a big discount on the term sheet and then adding a bump in cost back into the deal (after taxes, tags, etc.) without explanation or pointing it out, struck me as deceptive. We work through that snafu and reach a deal. Now comes the incompetent closing. Lindsay omits my wife's name from the title. When pointed out, Lindsay says it doesn't matter because when I die my wife will inherit the vehicle; and all the forms are already printed and its late, so just sign. They also did not use my full legal name. The financing options were strangely "locked." Someone at Lindsay decided that I was not putting any cash down (only the trade) and I wanted more than 72 months loan term. This of course made the interest rate high. But we could not run alternative scenarios because the financing screen was "locked." It occurred to me that perhaps Lindsay was trying to offset the negotiation losses by selling the high dollar, highest interest rate loan. I then remembered a strange document that had only one number but I had to sign in many places. They said it was for expediency (cause we are in a hurry) but I never saw that document again after the numbers were put in. It was a document for Chrysler regarding rebates, employee pricing, etc. Why Lindsay insisted I sign it with all those blanks makes me think funny stuff was going on with financing and rebates; things that I should have known but apparently were being kept from me. So my overall impression of Lindsay is they were deceptive on many fronts and incompetent in closing. In hindsight, I wish I had gone to see Brandon at Fair Oaks Chrysler. In 10 minutes on the phone, Brandon explained the deal with the rebates and incentives in a professional forthright manner. If I had known how Lindsay was going to screw up the closing documents, I would have run from Lindsay to Brandon at Fair Oaks Chrysler.
