Pat Lobb's Toyota of McKinney
Dealership Sales Review
The sales people at this dealership think they are high and mighty. I was going to trade in a Chevy Silverado RCSB for a Tundra double cab std bed. From the start the sales guy had an attitude pretty much saying the Tundra was the best vehicle out there and all other trucks, including mine weren't worth it. I was originally going to have my credit union do the note, but just to see I had Toyota pull our credit to do some comparison shopping. Now our credit isnt spectacular, but it's not bad either. Toyota came back with 16% for 72 months. Our credit union has 10.45% for 72 months. I asked my salesman "Isn't Toyota in the business to compete?" His reply: "With credit like yours, they don't have to compete." Their best deal was at $510 a month using my credit union. Our budget was $450. I told him this from the beginning. I told him $510 wouldn't cut it, my wife would never go for it. He told me to call my wife to ask. So I called my wife just to appease him, and not surpising she turned it down. I told the salesman this. His reply was "I guess your wife says you are driving the Chevy." I walked out. I went to the Chevy dealer to look at a new Silverado Ext Cab. We nearly had a deal worked out, and was told we would qualify for the 1.9% APR for 72 months. Their bank was closed for the day so we were waiting for final approval yesterday (12/26). The Toyota dealer salesman called me yesterday afternoon and his first remark was "How do you like driving your Chevy?" I told him fine, as I love my truck and didn't think anything negative towards it. His reason for calling was to see if I had budged any. I told him no, $510 a month wasn't going to cut it for a base model Tundra. Plus I told him I wanted more for my trade, as the number they gave me was too low ball. He told me that Chevy inflates their value with rebates. Duh!, Toyota has rebates that match Chevy!! He then told me my Chevy wasnt worth the metal it was printed on (Major insult to me here). He said he would see what he would do. He calls back 10 min later asking when I could come up there. I told him not unless we had a deal on MY terms. He said they made some concessions and gave me more for my trade, and the final deal would be for $452 a month with my bank. I told him I would call my wife to tell her. I still had a possible deal working with Chevy and wanted to give them some time since the salesman was extremely nice there. I call to speak to the general manager today to let him/her know how I was treated. Of course the GM isn't there. I speak to the General Sales Manager. I told him what happened. He apologized and said he would investigate it. He calls me back in 10 min to ask what he can do to earn my business. I told him they could include tinted windows for free (the Chevy has them) and he said he's had customers say they will leave over $100 and he says the dealership will walk away from $100 as well. The customer service just plain sucks with the salespeople. I understand Toyota is proud of their vehicles but don't insult the customer. Today the Chevy dealer says they have us hard approved for the 1.9%. Guess where I'm going? Their truck has more features anyway, for a much lower payment. Pat Lobb Toyota lost our business. My parents bought two vehicles there in the last year. They won't any more. My wife bought her car there. She will take it to another Toyota dealer for service now. Do not go there!!
