Honda Cars of McKinney
Dealership Sales Review
The dealership is all of the stereotypical things you think when it comes to the purchase of a new car. Price online is about $3k less than what is marked at the dealership. They pre-install dealer accessories onto all of their vehicles (Lo-Jack, tinted windows, mud flaps, etc) which raises the price of the car/truck. These are nothing more than options that cost them a little money and time but lets them get an added $2k out of the purchase price if you pay the price on the window. Also, finance team tried to get me to pay for a discounted 3 year oil change service. I declined. I did however find in my glove box that Honda provides complimentary service for the first 2 years or 24k miles. The dealer was hoping to get 3 years of service, and essentially pocket 2 years of fee's. Finally I did purchase an extended warranty as I do with any car purchase I have ever made. I specifically told them that the warranty can not be tied to their dealership as I do not live close by. Warranty should allow me to go to any Honda dealership for service, which they agreed it does. I now have emails about my extended warranty (I have only had the truck a few days) that indicate that I have to take the truck to the dealer for any warranty work. If that is the case I will be dropping the warranty and getting a different option that allows for any Honda dealer. The jury is still out. Only good thing is the Ridgeline is an awesome buy. I would not tell you to steer clear but I would tell you to stick to your guns on the price and look at other dealerships to compare. I made them remove the pricing for the dealer upgrades and got what I wanted because they had a large amount of Ridgelines on the lot and they wanted to make a sale.
