Dealership Sales Review
I was going to purchase another Odyssey from another dealer but that car was sold before I could get over there to complete the purchase. Luckily that night, I saw the new listing from Honda Cars of McKinney for a low mileage 2009 Odyssey EX-L. I went over the next morning and was greeted by Marlon Thomas who got the keys and let us take the car for a test drive. The car had just been traded in by the previous owner so the car had not been cleaned or detailed. However since it drove well, was very low mileage, and did not seem to have issues, I was ready to make the purchase. I gave Marlon an offer and he took it to his manager. The sales manager Jeff Lyall came back with Marlon within a minute or two and we agreed on a price that was much closer to my offer than the listed price within 10 Minutes. After searching for months for a low mileage Odyssey and gone through negotiations on some other Odysseys, I was very happy with the price we agreed upon. Unlike the other dealers I dealt with there was no BS sales stunt like making us wait for the counter offer, going over exaggerated “retail value” of the car, excessive prep fees, or bringing “higher” level managers to negotiate the price. My wife was a bit concerned that we bought the car before they had a chance to inspect, clean and detail the car. However, When we went back to pick up the car It was nicely cleaned and detailed. In addition they gave us a list of the maintenance items and repairs they performed to the car, which included replacing the front and rear brake pads and turning the rotors. Considering I had already purchased the car and wouldn’t have known if they didn’t do the maintenance repairs, I was really impressed by the honesty and integrity shown by Marlon, Jeff, and the rest of the staff at Honda Cars of McKinney.
