Vandergriff Honda
Dealership Sales Review
One of the things I've always dreaded about buying a new car is the experience of going into a dealership and spending several hours wheeling and dealing to get the car I want at a fair price. But we have tools at our disposal now that make it possible to reduce the pain of buying a car. The last time I bought one, I did my research and found out what other people in my area were paying, then I e-mailed dealers asking for their best price. If they insisted that I call them or come to the lot, I scratched them off the list. But when I found the right car, from a dealer willing to quote a price by e-mail, we took it. We were in and out of there in less than an hour. Our experience this time around was very different. I got multiple e-mails from the salesman, Internet Manager, and General Manager, but my requests for a quote on the vehicle were simply ignored. It would have been nice if someone had at least been straight with me and said, "I can't quote you a price, because (reasons), but if you can give us your time, I believe we can work something out." Against my instincts, I decided to just walk in and see what they could do for us. After all, the car we wanted is not rare, but not really common either. And I was ready to get it done. Long story short, we bought the car. Everyone was very nice. And I believe they did give us a pretty reasonable price in the end. But we did spend over four hours in the dealership, start to finance. We love the car, and it was worth the time. And I would recommend Vandergriff, but with reservations. It's going to be a traditional car buying experience. I would say that they're going to have to figure out how to adapt to the way people shop for everything now. Otherwise, this would have been a four-star review.
