Dealership Sales Review

5 out of 5 starssales Rating
Stressful purchase but happy ending.
Written by Jim Brill on 04/09/2025

I am a police officer and bring my truck to Mark Allen because they promote backing the blue and have always treated my well. I scheduled a maintenance on my 2016 Silverado on Friday April 4th. The maintenance guys have always been top notch and respectful. I cant remember the guys name but he was top notch! I received a phone call from Aaron Nolen inquiring about if I wanted to look at a newer model vehicle. I have been thinking about that, so I set up a time that afternoon to look at several Silverado's that was in my price range. Aaron was on time and prepared when I arrived. He had several trucks that were in my price range, and went above and beyond to get me the truck I wanted. However, I wasn't in love with anything I test drove. I went home with my 2016, thinking I'd look for another truck later on in the year. Surprisingly I received a text from Aaron with two more Silverado's he was able to locate. Now these trucks were slightly above my price range and he warned me about that before having me come in to look at them. I've got to tell you, Aaron was spot on with what I was looking for. He showed my a 2023 Silverado that I loved! The looks and the drive and all of the things I want in a truck. As soon as I got back from the test drive, I told him SOLD. Aaron knew what I was needing in a truck, even if I wasn't being honest to myself about the prices I was looking at. And at the end of the whole transaction, my final payment wasn't even that much more then I thought it would be. Which brings me to my interaction with the finance guy, Oscar Reyes. Oscar was a little dry at first, but the more we sat and talked the more he showed his honest and kind personality. I actually had a great experience with Oscar, which is surprising to say because usually that is the most stressful of the whole car buying experience. But he was very straight forward and didn't play games with me. He talked to me like a man and explained everything very thorough. We came out with a deal and I drove home with a 2023 Silverado! But my story doesn't end there! As I sat and thought about my trade in {2016 Silverado}, I began to second guess my decision. So I text Aaron and voiced my concerns. He responded on his day off and said he would get with Oscar on Monday and we would come up with a new deal that would make me happy. Having Aaron on my side, made me feel confident about going back to the dealership and working out a new deal. Monday I spoke with Aaron on the phone and told me I'd be able to come in after I got off work. As I was at work I got another phone call from Dustin Davis, who is the General Sales Manager. He was inquiring about the deal that was made on Friday and what the issue was. I essentially told him that I was not happy with the amount I received from my trade and I would like to negotiate a new deal. The reason I wasn't happy was I went on KBB.com and got a cash offer for my trade in that was $4,000 higher then I was offered from Mark Allen. I realize that Mark Allen didn't have to agree to renegotiate, nor did they have to give me more for my trade in. All I wanted to do was sit down with someone and talk it out. However, as I continued to speak with Dustin on the phone he continually talked over me and interrupted me as I was speaking. I eventually had enough of his rude behavior and said to him "I don't know if you aren't listening to me or if I'm misspeaking" and which he apologized and said that "sometimes I come off as rude and I want to make sure you get the best deal for you". I acknowledged that is precisely what I was wanting to do. He did not believe that I got a instant cash offer from KBB and asked me to email it to him, which I did. Later in the same work day, I received another phone call from Dustin. This time he stated he looked into my deal and said that I got the best deal I could. Here are the specific details of the deal: The 2023 Silverado was quoted to me at $29,950, my trade was $7,000. I was upside down in my truck, so Oscar said how about we give you $12,000 for your trade and you buy 2023 Silverado for $34,950, which would help on my loan application for financing. Which all made sense at the time. These numbers were only spoken with Oscar. However, Dustin told me that it was his idea to increase the sell price and trade in price and it was Aaron's fault that information was not passed on to me and that Mark Allen wasn't going to budge from the $34,950 price because that is was most Silverado's are priced at and the only reason he had it at $29.950, was because he wasn't giving me much on my trade in. At that point is when I lost all respect for Dustin, because Aaron was fully up front with me about all details regarding the 2023 Silverado, and for his boss to insinuate that Aaron failed at doing his job was a clear sign at poor management. I am a Sergeant at my Police Department, and if one of my officers failed to do something I instructed and a citizen was upset, I would take the blame because ultimately it is up to me to lead my officer to do the write thing. Another note on Dustin, on the second phone call he was still abrasive and borderline condescending. We ended the phone call with him saying that he would see me once I got off work and he looked forward to meeting me. When I arrived at the dealership, Dustin didn't even have the professionalism to come meet me and make sure I was a happy customer. He met with Aaron 2-3 times and Oscar, but never met with me. Oh I just remembered, instead of Dustin speaking with me and trying to make me the best deal, he had Aaron offer me an extra $1,000 check in the mail to keep the current deal, knowing I wasn't satisfied. So, I met with Oscar on Monday and he was awesome! He sold me the 2023 Silverado at $29,950, completed a whole new deal for me and even played with the numbers more to get the payment where I needed it. I then drove my 2016 Silverado home and will plan on selling it myself. To finalize this review, I want to give Mark Allen a 5 star rating because Aaron was an excellent sales man and did everything I needed him to do to sell me a car. He wasn't pushy or sleazy. He was a straight forward honest man and I would absolutely come to him to buy another car. Oscar was awesome! He made the financing part so relaxing and easy. We even talked about personal stuff, which I think is important when dealing in that kind of business. He made everything smoother and I am so thankful he is the one doing my financing. Dustin was exactly what you would expect from a sleazy dealership. It is unfortunate that Aaron and Oscar work along side him. If it weren't for Aaron and Oscar, I would never shop at Mark Allen again. It's difficult to put into words the way Dustin spoke to me and made me feel as a customer. At the end of the day, I drove home in a badass 2023 Silverado and I'm absolutely loving it. Thank you Aaron for finding the perfect truck for me and thank you Oscar for making the buying process such a breeze.
