Dealership Sales Review

3 out of 5 starssales Rating
Really wish we could have made a deal

Upon arriving at the dealership it took about 15 minutes for a salesman to approach me, this was fine for me because I was just gathering info. When I finally came into contact with a salesman, he was the best experience I had. We sat in the car, he showed me every feature it had then we took a test drive. When we got back I learned that I was in dream world and the payment was a bit out of reach. That's when things got ugly. I took a look at a used vehicle, same make and model and was satisfied with it. Price/options/payment were all working out. Until they looked at my trade. I was offered $1000. Being technologically savvy, I jumped on KBB and learned even in "FAIR" condition my vehicle was worth $4500. I told him my vehicle was in good shape and I'd accept $4000, I was told that wasn't going to happen. While discussing price, I told him to go to the manager and tell the manager to give me the best bottom line deal. I also advised him that while he was doing that, I was going to check other dealers prices online. While doing so I came across the same make/model/year with less miles for $500 more list. When he came back and said the manager told me to make an offer. I told him what I had found and that I would offer him $3000 less than their list price as it appears to be too high. He told me I'd be better off at the other dealership. I unfortunately walked out and went to that dealership and got the make/model/year I was looking for with a warranty and my trade for $4500 the total price was only $1000 more than the sticker on the the car at Ganley. I truly wish their sales manager would have offered me a price while I was there. I was willing to sign and drive that day. Unfortunately their old school dealer tactics are just unfit for a person with my knowledge. The days of numbers games are over, especially when you're paying cash and you don't tell them, which is what I did. I don't feel I was taken seriously and unfortunately Lincoln is a sleeper dealership so it's pretty quiet. When a manager is overheard saying what he said, I'd be offended. Although I'm not your typical Lincoln customer with an average age of 90 years old, and my previous vehicle was not a luxury car. I was not playing around. For that, I give 5 stars to the Salesman, and Two deducted for the manager. An offer on my trade that was logical, and an offer on the car that was reasonable would have made me a customer.
