Dealership Service Review

Overcharging
Written by cle3 on 07/10/2015
I had my car towed to the service department to have the alternator changed. The amount quoted for this service was $1408 and said the service would take 6 hours. This price was unacceptable and I got a quote from a nearby national shop for $580. Germain Honda made it very difficult to get my car back and have it taken to the other shop once I told them I would not be needing their services and the service representative Eddie was condescending. The other shop ended up charging $430, almost $1000 less. I understand that dealerships are sometimes more expensive, so after the fact I called a competing dealership who informed me that for them to perform the same service with factory parts they would have charged $640 and the service would take an hour. I really wonder what Germain Honda planed to do for the extra $800 in those extra 5 hours. I had planned to take my car to Germain Honda for some extensive body repairs. I won't be.
