Dan Buck Chevrolet
Dealership Sales Review
My experience at Dan Buck Chevrolet in Canal Fulton, Ohio was one that has completed tainted my opinion of General Motors selling tactics, motives, and quality. This Chevrolet dealership was ruthless in their confrontations when I was simply trying to get questions answered. I purchased a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic on Saturday and when I came back the next business day (Monday), they could not provide me with any paperwork I requested. Dan Buck was very confrontational and threatened multiple times to call the police rather than being a true business man and working WITH the customer to try to solve the problem. This dealership was never upfront about how much I was paying for my 2012 Chevrolet Sonic, or how much I was getting for my trade of a Dodge Durango. When I asked for paperwork I was told it was mailed to me, and when I asked to see what they could provide to go over questions with, I was provided with one slip of loan paperwork. I have yet to see a copy of the paperwork I signed. During the deal that was being made on the car I felt backed into a corner. We had talked about prices, our price range, how much we would like for our trade, etc. We sat down with our sales representative and he only would provide us with two ranges, You can take a payment in the 150s or 170s. I was shocked because in my head those price ranges were not the cost of the vehicle. I wanted to know our purchase price, then I would talk payments. Multiple times our sales representative went to Dan trying to get two simple questions I had answered (what was the interest rate we were working with, and how much could they give us for this trade). They refused to answer this question, and as a result convinced me to sign a paper stating that if they could reach a deal of a payment in the 130s twice a month I would buy the car that day. Knowing what I know now, I still could have turned down the deal that was offered. I was very unsatisfied when looking at the final cost, loan paperwork, and trade value, but I was under the impression that since I signed that simple promissory note that I had no more choice in the matter. I would have given anything to walk out at that moment and never deal with Chevrolet again, but the situation only escalated when I came back Monday afternoon to ask questions about what I had signed and why I did not received any paperwork that day. Monday evening I returned to the Chevrolet dealership in Canal Fulton with my father to review the paperwork and have a few questions answered. I expressed my concern to our sales representative, who then went and got Dan Buck. Dan found one page of our loan agreement and came over. His initial statement to me, I am INSULTED that you would dare question my practices. This continued with me trying to get questions answers, and him having no direct answer. The conversation got very heated, and we were asked to leave. We had no problem leaving, but I wanted to see paperwork. We were threatened to call the police, told that we should contact the Attorney General, laughed when we said we could contact our lawyers, and told he had more money then we could ever dream. Never once did he try to solve our problem, never once did he attempt to keep a customer, he continually mocked us and never acted in a professional manner that I would expect an owner of a General Motors company would act. I would still like to know when I will ever see paperwork for the new car I purchased, why he was unwilling to share this information when questioned, why my loan paperwork states that I owe 72 payments, but I was told I had to pay bi-weekly in 66. I would like to know how a man of his integrity ever became an owner of a General Motors dealership. I question the legality of his practices and know that I will never by another General Motors product again, unless I can be assured that businessmen of his lacking professional background have learned how to deal with customers and know that I will not be threaten with charges when I simply came in to ask him a question. I am a teacher and if I ever treated a student (my customer) with the same brutality I was treated with tonight, I would have been put in jail myself.
