Dealership Sales Review

buyer beware

Our experience was the same as several others. Called to verify the vehicle was there and told the salesperson that we were from hours away. Told her of our preapproved financing over the phone and asked if the vehicle price was negotiable and her reply was "I wouldn't want to lose a customer over the price of a car". We took a day off work to visit the dealership with the intention of purchasing the vehicle we were looking at. Sales person meets us in the lot and suggests every vehicle but the one she knew we were looking at because I told her who I was and she remembered me from the phone call. Test drove the vehicle and discovered that it did not have a CD player like advertised online and on the sticker on the window. Her reply was that the vin number is put in and the vehicle information just comes up. (So they don't check it??) After the test drive, told her we wanted to talk about purchasing the vehicle. She asked if we wanted it today and my reply was yes, we didn't drive all this way for nothing. I reminded her of the preapproval letter and she replied "We aren't accepting outside financing right now. We are a small dealership and we don't get our money fast enough from an outside financial institution". I asked her why she didn't tell me that on the phone when I discussed with her that I had preapproval and her reply was that she didn't remember us discussing finances on the phone. She continued to tell us about the vehicle warranties. I asked if this vehicle had the 12 month 12,000 mile warranty and her reply was "no, this vehicle doesn't carry that warranty". It was listed online as having a lifetime engine warranty and the 12 month 12,000 mile warranty. She asked for the keys to our trade in so she could get the vin number and the mileage. After our discussion on price and not coming to an agreement, we were leaving the dealership only to find out that our vehicle had been moved without them having permission to do so. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. They are very deceiving and will tell you what you want to hear to get you in the door and once in the door they don't act as if they are willing to part with any of their vehicles. No negotiations and no willingness to come to an agreement at all.

My name is Jeff and I am the general manager of Buck Chevrolet. Now that I have introduced myself, allow me to share with you the other side of the coin. First: We do appreciate the fact that customers drive from great distances to do business with us. However, we do not hold cars. If a customer lives 1 mile or 1000 miles away, how would that customer feel that came in to look at a car and was told the car was being held for another customer to look at? There are reasons that folks drive (or fly) great distances to do business with us. I would like to think it's because of the people that work here but the hard reality is they drive and fly here because of the mileage, the options, the condition, the warranties and the PRICE. No one would drive for hours to pay the same for a similar car that was 5 minutes away from where they live. Second: We do accept and acknowledge national banks and credit union "letters of credit" or promise to pay letters. However, in the current economy smaller and less known banks/credit unions that are not on an approved lender list are not accepted. Third: We offer a very aggressive LIFETIME warranty on all our used cars with the exception of the "wholesale to the public" program cars. By far one of the BEST warranties offered by a dealership at no additional cost. All vehicles go through a GM factory inspection and meet the factories strict cosmetic and mechanical requirements. Select cars are certified, all are eligible. The full details of the programs are listed on every online listing in its entirety. Fourth: NO CUSTOMER CAR IS DRIVEN WITHOUT A SIGNED CUSTOMER CONSENT STATEMENT. If your car was moved that means you signed an appraisal form authorizing the appraisal of the car and your knowledge of the vehicles history. With over 17500 online visitors per month, we understand that one or two difficult customers may not appreciate us. However, we value and appreciate the over 17500 customers that do respect and appreciate our attempts to service their transportation needs.

Oh, and I see that he called the customer "DIFFICULT". That must be what they teach in customer service class because I was called "ANGRY". Nice words to describe people who won't tolerate complete lack of customer service.

I am commenting on review (159148) (buyer beware) because I totally agree with you on this. We had our experience on Saturday Jan 16th. They don't negotiate with you at all. Will tell you one thing, then a couple days letter change there story. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALER! I checked this dealer out on the Better Business Bureau website and they have an "F" rating!! I wish we had known this before we bought the car.
