Liberty Ford Brunswick
Dealership Sales Review
Having saved for years to buy this vehicle, the mistake that I made was moving forward with this transaction. Purchased a 2024 ford Bronco on March 16th. The ordering process was easy. They took a 500-dollar deposit, and I notified them that I was trading in a 2015 dodge challenger. They notified me they found the vehicle and were having it brought in. On March 16th I looked at the vehicle. It had not been cleaned, or detailed. Someone had thrown a box into the vehicle causing damage to the plastic in the cargo area, and to the plastic on the upper roll bar next to the speakers. There was adhesive still on the vehicle, which looked like scratches. They attempted to clean it up. The salesperson, Justin, stated that their detail team did a poor job and didn’t do their job(his words not mine), and then when I later pointed to the issues still existing, he indicated he couldn't see it. They offered me 14500 for my trade in. I had a bid for 17k. They indicated that no matter what that was the best that they could do, and that was the actual value of the vehicle. They indicated they would need to repair the charger and fix its rims. I proceeded with the sale of the Bronco. They did not apply my deposit to the sale and did not release the deposit back to me at the time of purchase. I purchased the optional surface-protect. I went outside to look at the vehicle and found additional areas that had not been cleaned, with possible scratches. The surface protect was not on the vehicle. I had to go because the person that was with me was feeling sick and I could not stay to try and do it a third time. When I walked into the office Justin was saying things about me to the man behind the desk and the man had to literally stop him from talking so as not to offend me. I did not raise any issues, and apologized to Justin if he felt I was challenging. I paid over 62k for this vehicle and wanted it to be in the condition I was paying for. He acknowledged the issues and agreed with that. They did not get around to applying the surface protect, nor did they clean the vehicle before I left. Justin indicated that I could come back for the surface protect once every 6 months. I left the dealership /w the vehicle and upon getting the vehicle under actual lighting I discovered that there were 3 dents in the front of the hood. 2 to the right of the center and one 4 inches to the left above the N. I set up with Justin to get the dents repaired. I took off work. I arrived exactly at the agreed to time. The dent person was not there. I set up a second time to arrive at 9 am on Tuesday the following week and took off work. I arrived early. I notified them that I had not received my second key they promised. Again, the dent person wasn't in at all the entire week. At that point the man behind the desk and someone named Alex stepped out with Justin. Alex did not have an understanding of my situation and at one point thought I was there for a used car. The man behind the desk informed me that they were aware of the dents from the place in Michigan, that the dents were supposed to have been repaired before I was given the vehicle, and they would do their best to get them fixed. He indicated there was an issue with the deposit related to the key and it hadn’t arrived. They informed me that they would send me the key when it came in. They asked me to come in a third time the following week on Thursday at 9 am. I took off work again. The dent person was there. The dent person fixed two of the dents to the left of center. While doing so he caused damage underneath the hood where he inserted a tool. He would not repair, or consider the dent, which under good lighting is about the size of a golf ball, to the right of center. He proceeded to claim it was because of the latch support in the center. The dent was about 4 inches away from that latch. He began tell me about metallurgy, and that this wasn’t related. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case; there is metal that lips under this hood area, the latch does not attach to the top of the hood panel directly, and looking at several other broncos on their lot none of them had this issue - but since I had brought this up twice and he refused twice I brought it up with Justin. Justin supported the dent person in this decision claiming he could not see it, again this is in overcast lighting. I was given my spare key. Because I needed to get back to work, I left. To date I've not received my registration transfer, they did not file it, so the transfer hasn't gone through. I now have to deal with that issue. They are currently selling my 14500 Charger for over 20k on another website. The photos of the vehicle show it unrepaired, and literally sitting next to the Bronco I purchased on March 16. While I understand that the dealer has to make money on a trade in, having to sit through the sales process and hear Justin repeatedly say how clean and nice the charger was without acknowledging the value was inaccurate – was extremely frustrating. The dealer has made more money off me related to this purchase than the actual msrp of the Bronco. The Bronco i received is not in new condition. The main mistakes that the dealership made was not inspecting the Bronco, not repairing the preexisting damage, not addressing the customer concerns related to the third dent, and misrepresenting the value of the trade in. They did offer to wash my car(on subsequent visits), fill up my tank(the only miles on the vehicle right now is from the drive to and from the dealer because I don’t have my registration), and offered to drive my vehicle to get the left 2 dents repaired; I declined what they offered because they did not resolve the issues that I was having. I am currently trying to locate another dealer that can help replace the hood entirely as the damage underneath removed metal, and the third dent has gone across the body line, and there is a lot of metal supports underneath it is preventing tools from being used. Very upsetting to have to deal with this on a new car.
