Johnson Lexus of Raleigh
Dealership Sales Review
On 11/10/2023 I purchased a 2016 vehicle with 44,500 miles on it from Johnson Lexus of Raleigh. I originally found the vehicle online and traveled almost 200 miles to purchase it. When I was finally able to inspect the vehicle, the car was in pretty good condition for a 7-year-old vehicle. However, I noticed that there was a strong smell of antifreeze (coolant). When I asked about it, I was told that there had been a hose that was loose and was assured that the problem was fixed. Well, on or about 11/22/2023, I had a major coolant leak from the vehicle. Thankfully this happened when I pulled into my driveway. I contacted my salesperson, Mr. Udofia, on 11/26/2023 to inform him of the problem to see if Johnson Lexus of Raleigh would be willing to do anything to help remedy the issue. Mr. Udofia, who seems to be the only one who knows how to communicate there, was quick to email me back the next day to tell me he would inform his sales manager of the issue. Because I like to be fair, I have given Johnson Lexus of Raliegh a generous 5 business days to respond. I was expecting at least a courtesy call however here I am on 12/02/2023 and have not heard a thing from them. I guess I thought that because they were a Lexus dealership that the customer service would be top-notch and that they would stand behind, within reason, ANY vehicle they sell you. How foolish of me. Now here I sit with a vehicle that I spent $21k on and cannot drive it because my mechanic's first available opening is on 12/08/2023. Also, there was a delay of a week for Johnson Lexus of Raleigh to process my vehicle registration. Due to the fact that I purchased the vehicle in North Carolina and I live in South Carolina, I was notified by the dealership a few days after purchase that I needed to provide them with some documentation from the state of South Carolina to complete my registration. I promptly called them back (left a message) for some clarification of what they needed and it took them a week to return my call. By the way, I still do not have my license plates. With that being said, I typically do not write reviews but I really felt the need to write this in the hopes of informing anyone thinking about purchasing a vehicle from this dealership to be very cautious of your purchasing decision. I am 51 years old and have purchased numerous vehicles over my lifetime. Some from “roadside” dealers and some from “branded” dealerships such as Johnson Lexus of Raleigh and I have never had such a horrible post-purchase experience. In a nutshell, I have found that the customer service at Johnson Lexus of Raleigh is terrible, and as I see it from the way I have been treated post-purchase, that after they get your money they forget all about you and move on to the next sale. GREED!! I will say that there are several other “branded and higher-end branded” dealerships on the same road as Johnson Lexus of Raleigh that I wish I had stopped at prior to dealing with Johnson’s. If you are in the market for a new or used vehicle, I would recommend checking out these other dealerships first. I’m not sure how much better the post-purchase experience would be anywhere else, but I would definitely say it wouldn’t be worse. Best of luck with your vehicle search!
