Route 22 Honda
Dealership Sales Review
My son's Honda Accord is coming off of lease in two weeks. When purchased 3 years back, finance rep at Route 22 Honda sold us "protection for minor scratches and dents when the vehicle is returned." Said "it would cover up to $2,500.00 for excess wear and tear. Called policy holder today and was informed that those items are not covered. [violative content deleted] Bold faced lies right to my face and my son's. One time, shame on me but, about 2 years ago my daughter was trading in a leased Audi A4 for a Honda Crosstour. Same dealership. They said they would take care of the remaining lease payments. Three months after turning vehicle in, Audi Leasing calls and says she owes $2,200.0 for excess mileage. Same car that was turned in 3 months earlier. Asked what this was all about, Route 22 General Manager made us all sorts of excuses, including that the salesman never told my daughter or I that. Twice in 2 years, we were faced with the same [violative content deleted] and lies. I will now pursue both cases with the NJ Consumer Affairs Division. Would recommend that no one buy a car from these dealerships. If you must, make sure you have everything in writing. They flat out tell you things that just aren't true. It cost my children substantial sums of money as a result of this dealership's employees lies! I have to add, including these two vehicles referenced, I have purchased a total of nine (9) vehicles form Route 22 Honda and sister company Route 22 Nissan. What changed since the first 7 vehicles compared with the last 2 is beyond comprehension. My feeling is that there is no oversight of the salespeople and they simply say anything to make a sale, true or false. Dring the initial incident with the Audi trade-in, I tried repeatedly to reach the GM. I was connected to someone wiht the title "Facilitator." Asked what that meant, he replied that he's the designated troubleshooter. Why would a reputable dealership have to have a full time "Facilitator" unless there are numerous complaints which he has to intercept and try to work out? Finally did reach the GM and he was of as little use as the Facilitator. The sales staff and the so-called managers epitomize what everyone thinks of when they hear the phrase "car dealer," a collection of fast talking [violative content deleted] who will tell you anything to sell a car. I will never buy another vehicle from either of these dealerships! Beware!
