Lithia Reno Subaru
Dealership Sales Review
Erik Torres and Chad Zamora completely betrayed my trust and rolled out all the classic lies that give car salesmen a bad name. The first visit started with Erik showing my wife and I new and used Outbacks and ended with him giving us an invoice and a quote for our trade-in. All negotiations revolved around the invoice price. I called back a week later when he was busy, so he had his partner Chad call me back. After learning we were shopping around, Chad agreed to $6,000 for my trade-in. I emphasized I needed to agree on that price ahead of time as I had to tow the trade-in car from our home an hour from the dealership, and get childcare, to finalize the deal for a new Outback. After arriving at the dealership as promised, the story started to change. Suddenly there was a "huge miscommunication" and they were no longer able to agree to the $6,000 quote. Oh and by the way, they wanted to start negotiating from MSRP. I partly blame myself for not getting the deal in writing via email before arriving there. They knew I was jumping through hoops to get the deal done and were just using that leverage against me. They just had to get me in there and could then completely change the story. (I now understand why Eric Torres has worked for six dealerships in four years.) We ended up walking away, selling our car to CarMax for $8,000 and buying our Outback from Gold Rush Subaru, which was a great experience.
