Silko Honda
Dealership Sales Review
Went in and tried to negotiate a price for a car (having two quotes from other dealers that were $2000 less than what Silko wanted). Told the salesman what we could and couldn't afford. After 3 hours, finally got down to a reasonable deal. Had to put down a $500 deposit (DO NOT DO THIS!!!!) before waiting 45 minutes to even sit down with a finance officer. What we thought we had agreed to was not the case. The manager, Roger, came in and told us that the payment was only $20 more a month, so what was the big deal. That is easy for him to say when it isn't his budget he has to fit the payment into. We told him that we couldn't afford that and we had told the salesman the same thing and we obviously misunderstood the deal. Roger told us we could get our deposit back if we wanted. We said we would sleep on it and left. Came back the next day, Roger was not there, but our salesman and another manager said they would reverse the charge. Waited a week and the refund never showed up on our credit card. Called to speak to Roger who would not come to the phone, so I drove back up to the dealership to get my refund. I shouldn't have to chase my money down. If they couldn't accommodate my financial limits, that is fine. They are in the business to make money. But do not assume that I can afford more a month or that it okay to keep my deposit (after telling me you would refund it) until I come in to get it back. That is just rude and disrespectful. I wasn't going to write up a review because they couldn't meet my financial needs (even though Roger was rude). But after having to chase down my refund, I was even more unhappy with the thought process of the dealership management. I still got my new Honda from Colonial Honda in Dartmouth because they were wonderful to work with.
