Heritage Toyota Catonsville
Dealership Sales Review
So after feeling like I had spent too much at my last car purchase at CarMax, I decided to try a private dealership for my eighth car purchase. They had a certified 2005 Sienna with ~70k miles that was in our price range. I was in a hurry and somewhat distracted (our third child was born a little early and we needed a minivan to get everyone around) and purchased the car after driving it around and doing a once over. A couple days later, I realized that the top of the minivan was dented near the roof rack, something only visible in the right lighting and from a certain direction. I talked with the sales guy, and he basically said "Too bad". I talked with the sales manager, same thing. I called Toyota who talked with the sales manager and never called me back. After several messages, I finally got a response "Too bad". Oh well, lesson learned I guess. After a couple weeks, I was expecting a refund check from my old car since the payoff amount they quoted was slightly more than what I owed and the financing company wasn't open on Sunday to verify the lesser amount. Nothing arrived, so I began to call the financing department. One call got through, but the rest went straight to voicemail. 15 messages and 2 weeks later, I finally decided to stand in the lobby until it was resolved. Turned out they admitted that they owed me $1500, and sent the check my way. I should not have had to go in in person, it was a quick solution but they obviously didn't want to compensate me for it. 3 months later, the timing belt broke and the brakes needed work. By now, I had hit the 75k marker and the car was no longer certified. I took it to the shop explained my situation, told them that it was a recent purchase and if there was anything at all they would do. This time, they seemed optimistic that maybe they would help me out, but in the end --> TOO BAD. I have purchased many cars, even a couple lemons, and have never received such bad service in all areas. There were a couple times when I was waiting around in the lobby and the salesperson or manager looked me in the eye, recognized me and shuffled away looking at his feet. Hopefully the car holds up in the future, because although this dealership looks clean and flashy, underneath it is greasy and classless.
