Tried to cheat me twice!!
Written by Hawkeye66 on 11/29/2008

Monday, November 24, 2008 I contacted Hood Northlake Chevrolet about a 2009 Traverse. The salesman was Joshua Spell. I very explicitly explained I wanted their final, out-the-door price after tax, title, license, trade-in, etc. I was very clear about this and Josh understood this. Before I left the dealership I was quoted a price of $39,816.10 for the vehicle. Two or three times I asked Josh to confirm that this was the final, out-the-door price. Each time he responded, "Yes, this is the out-the-door price." The next day my wife test drove the vehicle to make sure she liked it. When I called Josh to finalize the deal he told me he had mistakenly quoted me the vehicle price only, not the final, out-the-door price we had agreed to the night before. The actual out-the-door price was to be $42,598.54. I told Josh I was extremely upset about this 'bait and switch' tactic. I asked to see the paperwork on the vehicle. This paperwork was done by the sales manager, Greg Brumfield. Upon checking the math on the paperwork I found the $42,598.54 price was fradulently in error. That price should have been $41,494.51, a difference of almost $1,100!! I have the paperwork which verifies this. In summary, Hood Northlake Chevrolet tried to cheat me in two ways. First, the bait-and-switch on the price of the vehicle. Second, fradulent math on price worksheet. I can only imagine how many times they have pulled this scam on unsuspecting people in the past.

I have to say something about this negative comment. I think the god doctor is probably a great medical professional, but he is way off base here. I am an old retired Marine and have bought numerous cars from Hood Northlake since 1990. In fact, my entire family and many friends buy from this particular dealership. They will go out of their way to treat you with the utmost respect and dignity. I believe they have superb people skills, absolute integrity, and practice sound business principles. I am happy to have found a dealership like this one. I agree that a lot of dealerships are aggressive and devious. Thats why I deal soley with Hood. This doctor is painting them all with the same brush. In this case it is his lose. Gunner

Unethical? No...not quite. Mrs. Iverson visited our new dealership and fell in love with the all new 2009 Black LTZ Chevrolet Traverse we had in our showroom. She told us her husband would come back to purchase it. From the time Dr. Michael Iverson showed up at our dealership he demanded that we rush critical steps we take to ensure accuracy of our price. Our Sales Manager Greg Brumfield quoted Dr. Iverson the selling price and the total delivered price. The salesperson Joshua Spell disclosed all the numbers on the quote sheet in which one quarter of the page was dedicated to disclosing the total delivered price. The next day Josh realized that Dr. Iverson believed that the selling price was the total delivered price. Dr. Iverson pressed the salesperson to honor the selling price as the drive out. Greg Brumfield made additional concessions to Dr. Iverson and communicated them to the Doctor through Josh via the phone. Dr. Iverson again insisted on circumventing our normal pricing policies and insisted that he receive a total delivered price via the phone. Greg, in his haste to satisfy Dr. Iverson, miss-communicated the total delivered price to Josh. The Hood Family has been serving the automotive needs of South Louisiana families since 1929. Our longevity, success, and good reputation have not been earned through "bait and switch" tactics or "fraudulent math", and our organization does not "scam unsuspecting people." We are human beings and errors are made. We offered to make good on ours. A key detail that Dr. Michael Iverson omitted in his attempt to villanize our business is that Mrs. Iverson would not have any other 2009 Chevy Traverse other than the one we had. It was the decision of Hood Northlake Chevrolet to transfer the exact 2009 Black LTZ Chevy Traverse to a different store where Dr. Iverson was attempting to purchase so that Mrs. Iverson could purchase the Traverse of her dreams. Respectfully, Daniel Regueira General Sales Manager Hood Northlake Chevrolet
