I am extremely happy to say that I am the owner of a 2015 Chevy Colorado Z71. However, while in the process of purchasing the vehicle I ran into problems with Webb Chevrolet in Plainfield, Illinois. I was lied to on numerous occasions while dealing with Webb Chevrolet. I called Webb Chevy on the afternoon of December 18, 2014 to inquire about their black Z71 Colorado. The sales manager informed me that it was still on the lot. I told him that I would be down in about an hour and a half to take a look at the Colorado. Upon my arrival he informed me that he had bad news, the black Colorado was sold about a half hour before I arrived, “but it was not a big deal because they had a very similar Z71 Colorado at their sister dealership.” Their sister dealership is Webb Chevy of Oak Lawn, Illinois. So, I went for a test drive in a LT Colorado and I liked the truck very much. After the test drive I was willing to start talking about purchasing the Z71 Colorado and trading in my 2007 Ford Ranger. After about 45 minutes of negotiating with the sales man we came to a deal. We shook hands and I gave them my title to my truck I was going to be trading in and I asked, several times, if this deal was “set in stone.” They guaranteed that the deal was “set in stone,” and they would be receiving the truck the following day, detailing it and getting it ready for me to pick it up the following afternoon. The next day I received a call from the sales manager saying they “hit a small snag.” He proceeded to inform me that the Z71 Colorado that I agreed to purchase the night before had been sold to another buyer that morning. At this point I was upset. After all I was told that the deal was set in stone. I decided to do some research on the truck I agreed to purchase. I searched by the VIN number that was listed on the spec sheet the dealership had provided me the night before. To my surprise, I found that the truck was not at their sister dealership, but in fact, it was at a different . I then called a different Chevy to see if the truck I had agreed to purchase with Webb Chevy was, in fact, sold. I was informed that it had not been sold and that the other Chevy dealership was not willing to trade with Webb Chevy. I was extremely upset that Webb Chevy had been completely untruthful with me by communicating that the truck was sold when it was the two dealerships not being able to strike a deal. I then had to return to Webb Chevy to get my title back from them because I did not want to purchase my truck through them. When the sales manager asked why, I told him “because you lied to me saying that the truck was sold” and lying to me saying “the truck was at their sister dealership.” When it was not. Knowing that I wanted the truck that I agreed to purchase the night before I drove out to a different Chevy dealership. I came to a deal to purchase the vehicle from them. While going through the finance process, the other Chevy dealership informed me that Webb Chevy did not even run my credit the previous night. I would like to know how Webb Chevy could agree to sell a vehicle to me at an interest rate “approved” by the bank when they, in fact did not even run my credit. Needless to say, I am not impressed with Webb Chevy, in fact am concerned in the way they handle their business and would hope that others do not have to go through the same complications and unethical business practices that I have experienced. I will definitely not be purchasing any vehicle from them in the future.
