Worst buying experience ever

After buying the SRX I returned to Crestview Cadillac to purchase another car. Exactly one week later I wanted to buy a CTS coupe. I felt the dealership lowballed me on the Dodge Super Bee and The Mustang GTCS I traded them for the SRX. I told them so at the time. I wanted to trade my 2012 Ford Focus Titanium Edition for the CTS. In March I paid $30,000 plus for the car, out the door with tax and license a little over $33,000. The car has about 2800 miles on it and is in showroom condition, by the dealerships own admission. I asked them for a trade in value and Peter appraised the car and offered us $15.000, yes exactly half what I paid for the car 5 months ago. According to him that is the value at this time. Like I said I thought they had lowballed us on the two cars I traded for the SRX but I didn't realize how badly until I seen what they were offering for my Titanium Focus. Now I realize what a horrible deal I actually got on the SRX. This dealership is owned by the same people who owned Bewley Allen Cadillac, now closed I believe. After speaking with a couple people who have bought cars at either of these two dealerships I now realize what a horrific mistake I made buying a car from them. I wish I had done more research before selecting this dealership but I didn't. My bad! My wife wanted a Lexus but I talked her out of it. Major mistake. If for some reason you end up here and you are going to get an appraisal on your car and you see an appraiser coming grab your keys and run just as fast as you can. By this dealers standards and car values my $47,000 SRX will be worth about $23,500 five months from now. Apparently a car loses half its value in 5 months. I wasn't aware of that but you learn something new every day. I am 65 years old and I have bought a lot of new cars in my life and this buying and non-buying experience is absolutely the worst I have ever known. I could never tell anyone to buy from this dealership! I have never been treated like such an idiot in my life. This will be the last GM car I will ever purchase. I have written a letter to GM expressing my opionions on this situation and I expressed my concerns about the matter, but in reality I know GM will care just about as much as Crestview Cadillac does and that will be Zero. If you have to go to this dealership Chris is a decent guy but with ownership what it is I doubt you will be happy with anything, except Chris. I hope reading about my buying experience will enlighten you and you will not make the same mistakes I made. Do some resaeach before buying a car from anyone. I wish I had. Unfortunately I didn't and I paid the price! No pun intended.

Dealer Response
This situation is very unfortunate and I am saddened and bothered by how you feel. I am responding because I believe there are always two sides to every story and felt it important to share. When you purchase a new vehicle and within the first year of ownership decide to trade it in, you incur your greatest loss due to depreciation for many reasons. Trade-in book on the Ford is $19,485.00 coupled with $2,500.00 of incentives offered on the same vehicle brand plus the option of 0.0% financing available makes the trade valuation low compared to what you recently paid, making your request for $23,000.00 for trade not feasible. Our highest offer to you on the Ford was $17,000.00, which is still painfully low but reflects the market based on current Manheim auction values. We truly try to make every trade situation as positive as possible. We are confident that any reasonable appraisal from any dealership will be very similar. We appreciate your feedback on this truly unfortunate situation and wish it did not sour our relationship with you. Sincerely, Peter Mark General Sales Manager Crestview Cadillac
