Dealership Service Review

Findlay Subaru, my very FIRST [at age 67] dealership service dept encounter
Written by BudgetMinded Used Car Guy on 12/04/2019

Here in lovely Prescott Az, I recently bought [from a private party] a near-pristine, though high-miles, Subaru B9 (first edition) Tribeca. I knew from talking with the seller, the car’s second owner, that it needed some “catching up” in some areas of maintenance. The calendar was already turning to November, and last winter’s blizzard had me wanting a dependable all-wheel [or four-wheel] vehicle at the ready. Plus my usual brilliant mechanic-friend Jay, a few miles out Williamson Valley, is not a 4x or Subaru specialist, so I bit the bullet and took the Tribeca in to Findlay, on Willow Creek near Rte 89A, the same day I got it. Bcuz I’d spent 40-some years finding [and then developing relationships with] small “mom n pop” repair shops, or the occasional private backyard auto tech, I was a bit apprehensive and could almost feel my intended budget for the Tribeca quickly “evaporating”. My worries gradually melted away, thanks in big part to service writer JJ Walz, who did a stellar job of “handling us”. My Subaru’s two visits both extended several days, but I’ve been a car guy long enough to know that you don’t hurry any truly favored vehicle when it’s in qualified hands; in this case, those of a technical staff that’s been put together and trained by the car’s manufacturer. Ultimately, after JJ threw a few perks my way, not the least of which a fully-loaded, under-3,000-mile Forester loaner vehicle, I’ve come to really value and appreciate having Findlay Subaru in my corner. Moreover, I’m now confident that what I’ve now invested in this ‘06 B9 Tribeca, which still totals substantially under its Private Seller Value [both here and on KBB] has both my feet firmly planted among the safe-in-all-weather driving community of Subaru believers. My every-option [features available in 2006, that is] Tribeca keeps me cozy-safe with heated mirrors/wipers/seats and dual-zone climate control [plus separate rear ventilation]. I just hope I can endure a few years WITHOUT the loaner-Forester’s heated steering wheel AND it’s adaptive cruise control, complete with lane- and follow-distance-keeping assist system, called Subaru EyeSight. Well done, JJ Walz, Findlay Subaru tech staff, and Subaru !! My hat is also [and always] off to SafeStreet Insurance in Gilbert Az. Thanks Michael and staff !!
