Wow, I have now read three different blogs with individuals going through exactly what I went through. I had contacted the fleet department on a Tuesday and spoke with Julian, (fleet manager). I gave him all of my credit information. He called me back and told me that I had to make sure that I brought my PAID OFF trade in when I came down. I gave him the VIN number of the car that I liked on their web site, and he said that they still had that car and I could come down to look at it closer. A few days later I called him to let him know I was on my way down. He said the car was still there and he would see me shortly. I called USAA and gave them the same VIN number, they gave me a full report on the car including a Black Book report on the car and my trade in. My trade in was valued at 7900.00 for perfect condition, and 7200.00 for good condition. The car that I was looking at Civic LX sedan (Manual Transmission) was valued RETAIL at 10,200 for excellent condition, which was low compared to their 12,888 sticker price. I went down to the dealership with all of my info on my car and the civic, and Julian said I will be right back. He went and gave all of the info to his manager, and came back to tell me that they had just sold that car a few days ago. I was furious I just spoken to him hours ago and he said the car was still there. He then took me out to look at other vehicles. One of which was one that I had told him earlier over the phone I didn't like it, plus the Carfax report wasn't good at all. He then proceeded to tell me that it is harder to get financed for older higher mileage vehicles, but then started showing me hondas that were 2001's or 2006's with super high mileage, completely contradicting himself. When I told him no thanks he proceeded to show me some Nissan sedan with racing bucket seats racing shifter and a 21,000.00 sticker price. First I have two small kids, which he knew, second he knew that I couldn't afford a car in that price. I said no to all of his awful choices and we went back to his office. In came his boss and the real junk began. His boss then started to degrate me, and tell me for someone that was so picky about my vehicle preference how the heck was I driving a 2004 Hyundai Sante Fe? and he said that since I didn't like the dash in the new 06 civic's he would throw me in a dashboard cover. That did it for me, and so I left. A few hours later my family called the dealership back pretending to be someone else and asked about that car. The same manager that I had dealt with earlier said I think its still here let me go out and look and I will call you back. Twenty mins later he called back giving the VIN number, and saying it was still there. My family member then identified who they were and that I was in earlier and they stated the car was gone. The manager on the phone had nothing to say and hung up. A few minutes later the same manager called me, and tried to apologize, and then say that Julian was mistaken when he spoke to me, and my father, and that the car was really sold. He said that the car sold on March 7th, and I told him that was almost a month ago, and if thats the case why was it still on the site, and why were they still telling people it was there. He said that they hadn't redone the site yet, and I said that must be very bad for internet sales. He said that it wasn't anyones fault, that sales managers can't go into the software that he was looking at to find out the car was sold. I told him that was bull, and that he just lost business, and hung up. I can't believe that any dealership would treat people like this. To be lied to several time, and talked down to because of the vehicle that I currently have, and to just be talked down to is awful. In today's economy they should be happy with any sale they can get!
