  • Re: F-150 best selling truck, but for how much longer?? [kcram]

    Written by: hackattack5 on Jan 11, 2013 5:34:14 AM

Thanks Kcram for putting up some real sales results for 2012. I love how the hatters on this forum just throw phrases out there like "if you add Chevy and GM trucks sales together they would blow Ford away. Well no they don't and I know you are going to say well who cares? We don't care. It all comes down to this, when you are pulling your 2 horse trailer ... Read More

Best part of the story...... I have a 5.3 Yukon, 6 spd trans. 2009. Great all around ride and mpg BUT GM saw fit to offer two different trail tow options. (1) call trailer tow, which provides the right engine, trans, and axle. and (2) one that includes the an increased radiator core and transmission cooler. Without both, you can only pull 5900# ,with both it's rated at 7900#. While it ... Read More

Well you've had enough time to really understand performance and mileage. I recently bought a 2012 Platinum with 373 gears based on comments like yours. While I am a well seasoned power train engineer (Ford), I have not experienced great fuel economy yet. I also have a 2009 Yukon 5.3 (373 axle) which does deliver 16.5 cty/ 20.0 hwy but lacked the muscle to pull for camping without overheating the transmission ... Read More

I'd like to agree but I'm a retired PTSE Manager and also did power train packaging for D3 (Taurus,Sable,Explorer, etc). Mapping the processor and driving habits are not the issue, understanding the system is. I'm trying to better understand this issue. Many have experienced the same; do I love the rig yes, but at $50,000.00 a copy at this stage of the game development should not be one of them. I appreciate ... Read More

Hi jeffschu and dylrex. Ford Credit's August base lease rate and residual value for a 36-month lease of a 2012 F-150 SuperCrew XLT 4WD or Lariat 4WD with 12,000 miles per year are 3.0% and 61%, respectively. There's a ton of cash incentives on F-150s that consumers pay cash for or finance, but I don't think that there's anything on leased F-Series models. As usual, you don't have the facts straight. The 2013 RDX also gets a 6 speed transmission vs a 5 speed for the 2012 model. Plus Acura's 2.3 turbo IS NOT direct injected. Here is the latest information I have reveived from dealers in the Tampa, Orlando, Sarasota area. It seems that there is only a $500 difference in rebates between 2011's and 2012's. There are better financing options with the 2011's such as 0% for 60 months or 1.9 for 72 months in lieu of a $2K rebate. Most of the repsonses I got back from dealers is they are willing to sell ... Well after owning the F150 with ecoboost and giving FORD the benefit of the doubt. I was sadly let down and my apologies to all! A month ago the engine started shutting down and I would shut key off and restart and may be ok a day or two.Took to the dealer three weeks ago and they said they couldn't find any thing wrong and that the factory was aware of ... Price paid $21,500 plus TTL. Southwestern U.S. Very unpleasant experience with high pressure dealer, even though the price was probably not rock bottom. Next time: Go ahead and let the high pressure guy buy the inventory and pay the salesman. Then go to low-key place to make the deal; they all share the same inventory, after all.

The current V6 engine block, ~10:1 compression ratio, could still be mated with the turbo and thereby run in detuned/derated mode, GAS GUZZLING MODE, 99% of the time. Meanwhile Ford would have DFI V6 engine, 300HP or more, that has a 12:1 compression and thereby has more reasonable FE. The current 3.7 v6 already has 302HP and class leading (EPA anyway) fuel economy. Should they boost compression and add direct injection? ... Read More

You may be correct. My hope is that Edmunds/CR/Car & Driver takes an eco boost and runs an extended road test on it. I want to see what it gets regularly for 5 - 10K or more in miles. My sticker was 14/18/15 and I am there at 9K in miles. The sticker on the new 5.0's is 14/19/16. In other words, no difference. The sticker on the eco boost (which ... Read More

I'v decided to jump ship on ford, after extended test drive the mpg posted was 12.8 on highway, with 5.4 3.55 ax ratio. And the resale trade -in value on f150 was beyond awful. i'm going to wait and see what chevy has to offer on redesign in 2012. However they were ready to deal at $13,500.00 off msrp.
