2014 Chevrolet Silverado: Highly Functional Bed

2014 Chevrolet Silverado

Our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado isn't the first truck to offer slots which locate a 2x6-inch piece of lumber, but they sure are useful.

Simply cut the board to 64.5 inches and it slides into place. I spent about 10 minutes and $40 to create this makeshift bike rack for a family trip to Arizona. Haven't used it yet, but expect a full report soon.

Hey Josh. Can you tell us what mounting bracket that the bikes attach to in the picture? Thanks!

Those are Kuat Dirtbag mounts: http://kuatracks.com/en/products/accessories/the-dirtbag/

Why is one bike rack bolted at the top of the 2x6 and the other at the bottom in the first photo?

  • This truck really needs a bedliner. I suggest Line-X from personal experience. My brother has it in his F150 and over the years it hasn't showed much wear and he uses his truck as a real truck. http://www.linex.com/

banhugh, my guess would be they're staggered in height so the handlebars don't hit.
