The 2014 Silverado (at the LT trim level and above) has audio control buttons on the back side of the steering wheel. The left side scrolls between presets and the right side controls volume. They're a good feature that Dodge has offered for a while on many of its vehicles.

Fiasler certainly manages to integrate them a lot better. These tacked-on appendages look like they'd break the first time they're used.

I don't like them. I prefer 5-way pads that Ford puts on the front of the steering wheel.

Even if it's done for ergonomic reasons, why hide them?

The ones Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge have had since 1996(with a few improvements over the years), are the best that I have used and I have used many. They are easy to use because they are simple and separate from other steering wheel controls that control other functions.
