Written by: jlritten on Jun 25, 2010 5:15:02 AM
Hi, Have a 2001 Chevy Prizm... Starting yesterday it would not shift out of park and the brake lights stopped working. I thought it was the Stop Light Sensor so I replaced that, still not working. I was able to use the saftey override next to the shifter to get it out of Park and drive it home but now I need to fix it. Any ideas of what to check ... Read More

Many of us, me included, disable the ABS except during the winter months. I have been involved in 2 rear-enders, me as the "offender", in the past 10 year dues to ABS activation during "panic" braking when short stopping distance was more important than directional control. First was in a 92 Jeep in ~'01 and the second was just weeks ago. IMMHO ABS should NEVER activate when the vehicle has VSC, ... Read More

2001 Chevy Prizm ABS fuse missing
Written by: dutchbart on Jul 1, 2009 5:22:30 PM
Hello, I own a 2001 Chevy Prizm (Toyota Corolla) and found that there's a fuse missing from the fuse box, it's the 50A fuse for ABS, I don't know if there are known issues/problems with ABS on Prizm's, and if so I'd like to know, if there aren't any issues/problems with ABS on Prizm's, then I'd like to know if simply installing that fuse will turn ABS on. Waiting for a ... Read More

3 speed vs 4 speed auto
Written by: dukeblu on Oct 23, 2005 5:18:19 PM
I'm thinking about buying a 2001/2002 Prizm but only want one with the 4 speed automatic. How do you visually tell the difference between the two. I'm assuming that very few sellers will have the original window sticker. Is the option code listed on the door as witrh other Chevys? Wish they were still making this car new. 40 MPG in a automatic Prizm beats the hell out of a smaller ... Read More

Mud Guards Fit
Written by: kunze1 on Apr 27, 2001 10:56:37 PM
Just to let you all know, the molded black mud guards for the 2001 Corolla fit my 2001 Prizm just fine. Cost $67 at the local Toyota dealer. All of the existing screw holes line up just fine for attachment, so no drilling is needed. (You must remove the thin black plastic fender lip liner off of the edge of the rear fender lip opening.) Chevy has mud guards available, but ... Read More

Re this post: bk_furman Mar 30, 2001 1:02pm I looked at the Saturn S wagon, Ford Focus Wagon and Ford Escort, Dodge Neon, and Chevy Cavalier, before I looked at the Chevy Prizm. I wanted to look at the Toyota Cars, but my wife did not want anything from Japan. So to appease us both, I went with the Prizm. You made a very good choice. FYI for your wife though...Prizms ... 2001 Prizm Purchase
Written by: ravram on Apr 1, 2001 11:48:46 AM
Hello all! kunze1, sorry my earlier post was not so clear... I did take a HUGE loss on the Kia, but I was expecting that. The problem was, I owed close to 3.5K negative balance on the POS, and I only had $500 to my name. So, with the rebate, I only had to go over the price of the Prizm by $1500. I probably could have tried to bargain with ... Read More

Hello! I have been reading all the posts, and this sounds like such a great little car! No wonder I'm buying one on April 2nd..... :-) Anyway, please bear with my stupidity, but when you get ANYTHING done on these brand new cars--you take it back to the Chevy Dealeership, right? I'm only asking because of post #380 about the coolant. I hate to feel like a retard, but I have ... Read More

2001 Prizm Fuel Economy improvements?
Written by: meshuga139 on Aug 13, 2000 2:03:03 PM
Hi all... I just checked out the new 2001 Prizm website and noticed that the fuel economy for the new 2001 Prizm seems to have been bumped up from 38mpg to 41mpg (with 5-speed). There's no mention about what has been done to the engine to gain this improvement. The car still has the 1.8L VVTi engine rated at 125hp. It would be nice if the changes/adjustments could be retrofitted to ... Read More
