COSTA MESA, California — The Cosworth Hyundai Genesis Coupe concept is bound for the 2012 SEMA Show. It is a collaboration between the Korean automaker and the famed British performance tuner.
The custom car is formally called the Cosworth Genesis Racing Series.
Cosworth and Hyundai begin by increasing output on the standard 3.8-liter direct-injection V6 engine to 389 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. This is accomplished thanks to a tuned ECU, intake and high-flow exhaust system. Additional performance features include a big-brake kit and performance suspension.
"The Cosworth Genesis Racing Series Coupe truly demonstrates the purpose-built performance potential of the affordable Genesis Coupe line," said Nicole Armbrustmacher, Cosworth Americas director of marketing, in a statement. "We're proud to partner with Hyundai for this ultimate racing series model."
The exterior is drastically modified with bright blue paint complimented by a new front bumper with carbon-fiber brake ducts, front splitter, front lip, diffuser, trunk spoiler and gunmetal wheels.
The package is finished with a CGRS steering wheel, shift knob and boot, pedals, two-tone seats and fresh trim.
Edmunds says: A mean package that could easily translate to the streets.
