Chevrolet COPO Camaro Concept
2011 SEMA Show
2011 SEMA Show
What is it about SEMA, drag cars and the Big Three? First it was the Mustang Cobra Jet, then the Challenger Drag Pak. Now it's the Chevy COPO Camaro concept, a "proof of concept" car according to Chevrolet that essentially lays out what a Stock Eliminator factory Camaro would look like.
With that in mind this Camaro is set up with a solid rear axle and a roll cage to start. It's also built to allow for the installation of a normally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 (sound familiar?) or a supercharged 5.3-liter V8 depending on which class you're hoping to race in. Other race-specific items include two- and three-speed automatic transmissions, lightweight brakes with line locks, a trunk-mounted fuel cell and a completely stripped-down interior.
Chevrolet officials didn't mention when this Camaro would be available for sale, but given how finished this car was, it shouldn't be long.
