FRANKFURT, Germany — The 2014 Nissan X-Trail has been teased ahead of a debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto Show.

The X-Trail is the European version of the 2014 Nissan Rogue.

A dual debut of both vehicles takes place on September 10 in the U.S. and Germany. Nissan issued the same teaser photo for both vehicles. The photo was reissued as the X-Trail teaser in Europe.

The Rogue and X-Trail are expected to look alike, but the X-Trail will have European tuning and powertrains, a Nissan executive told Edmunds on Tuesday.

The compact crossover is expected to get an even bigger dose of style when it is unveiled. The 2014 Rogue will go on sale in the U.S. later this year.

The 2013 Rogue, which is priced from $21,170, including an $860 destination charge, competes with the Honda CR-V, the Toyota RAV4 and the Hyundai Tucson.

Edmunds says: It will be interesting to watch how the X-Trail and the Rogue differ when the wraps come off of both of them.
