What Is It?
2014 Audi RS 7
What's Special About It?
There isn't much about the 2014 Audi RS 7 that isn't special. It has a 560-horsepower twin-turbo V8. It will go from zero to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds and on to a top speed of 189 mph. And it looks as good, or better, than just about every sedan on the road today.
In other words, the RS 7 is everything a car from Audi's high-performance Quattro division should be. Problem is, the U.S. hasn't seen many RS cars as of late. The TT-RS is around for the select few who like that sort of thing and the RS 5 is finally available now, too. Audi says the RS 7 is a continuation of that theme, one where more "emotional" cars like coupes and coupelike sedans get the RS treatment instead of sedans. In fact, Audi officials said the RS 7 was created mainly for the U.S. market even though it will be sold elsewhere in the world.
So this is very likely the most extreme Audi sedan you'll see for a while. And according to Quattro GmbH Chief Frank Van Meel, "How much faster does a sedan need to be?" Hard to argue with that logic.
What Edmunds Says:
Now that Audi is serious about RS cars in the U.S., look for the lineup to expand rapidly in the next couple of years and finally take on AMG in a serious way.
