Peninsula Subaru
Dealership Sales Review
I would like to relate to you a recent experience that I had with the Peninsula Subaru new car sales team. I found a new car, through their website, that I was interested in purchasing. I called and asked for Subaru new car sales. I was transferred to Tyler. I told Tyler the exact vehicle that I was looking for and stated that I could pay $22,800 "Out-The-Door". He stated that he had the car in stock, but that he would have to talk to the sales manager on the price. He said that he would call back in 5 minutes. I did indeed receive a call back from him in about 5 minutes, and he stated that "it's a deal, $22,800 Out-The-Door". I asked him to confirm that this is indeed the total, out-the-door price, which includes tax, license and fees. He confirmed that it was. We made an arrangement to have the car and paperwork ready for Saturday delivery. I stated that I would send a follow up email to him confirming the deal, and asked him to email back with the confirmation. He said that he would send a confirmation reply as soon as he received the email from me. I immediately sent the email to him. When I didn't receive a reply back after a couple of hours, I called him. He said that he would send the confirmation "now". I then received an email from him stating that he could "do 22,800 plus tax and lic. = 24,066 after tax and lic". I immediately called him and asked what was going on. He said "that's the best we can do". When I stated that he previously told me $22,800 "Out-The-Door", and we made arrangements for Saturday delivery based on that, and asked why "did you lie?", he answered, "Well, I guess I lied then, that's just the way it is" I contacted the owner, John Dionas, and relayed the incident. He seemed unconcerned. I purchased my previous two Subaru's at this dealership. This certainly does not seem to be a "Stellar" way to treat repeat customers.
