I wanted to buy my son a car that would be affordable but safe to drive. So I decided on a Kia Soul.. We had been out looking into the cars at several dealers when we went into DeMontrond. The salesman was very nice and said he didnt have the car we were looking for but he could get it from the previous dealer. Made me a deal and said that they could acquire the one we wanted. Also sight unseen he made me an offer on the car that I was going to trade in, and having done my homework I knew what the cars value was. They told me to give them a day to find the car and to get it cleaned up and I could come in and pick it up at that time. All was going according to plan when I went there to sign the final papers I chatted with the salesman for a short time and then was escorted into another salesman's office. I already had my insurance company ready to make the changes but until I actually saw the car I didn't have the vin# which was the only part of the process that was remaining. The new salesman was an insurance salesman, he looked at my insurance papers for a moment and said that he could beat any existing policy that I had and wanted to further inquire about my homeowners policy!!?? I did not go to buy a new car to talk about my homeowners insurance, but this salesman was asking questions about my assorted policies and said he could do better and all I had to do was send him a coversheet and he would take care of everything???? At the end of his speal I simply asked him why I was in his office and he said he was part of DeMontrond and I needed to talk to him?? I told him I was not interested because I was fine with the insurance I had and left his office. The Sales Manager was outside his office and I also asked him why I was escorted into the insurance mans office, and was also told that it was part of the process and he was part of DeMontrond!? The signing of the papers went without incident, although they tried to sell me everything additional that they could which is their job I suppose, but that high pressure sales mans insurance pitch really was annoying. I did not feel I had to explain my entire financial structure to him. I have bought somewhere between 10-12 new cars in my life and this was a first for me. And even after he could tell my displeasure at being in his office, he called me back at my home the following day and offered his services again!! I would recommend This Car Dealer to my friends but I will also inform them of the insurance pitch and to be forewarned.
