Worst Treatment Ever!
Written by happy32 on 09/17/2008

On a Friday evening I dropped by to look at Rangers. I found one I liked but since it was late and I was headed out of town for the weekend, they asked me to put $100 down to hold the vehicle till Monday. I did. Less than 24 hours later, about noon on Saturday, I called Alexander Ford and told them I wasn't interested and that I'd be back to get my $100 on Monday. On Monday I arrived but was told I couldn't have my $100 back. I was in shock. I kindly but firmly went back and forth with the salesman to no avail. I then asked for the sales manager, Jim. In the middle of the dealership with 15-20 customers and employees around, Jim belittled me, mocked my request, and told me to get lost. By this time I was furious. I told him I was going to call a lawyer and he told me to get off Alexander's property. I promptly went to a friend/lawyer who called Jim at Alexander. She (lawyer) asked him 2 questions: Did I drive the vehicle causing its value to lessen? Is the vehicle unsellable? Both answers were "no" and Jim hung up on her. She promptly called Mr. Alexander himself and asked him if $100 was worth going to court over. Amazingly this dealership returned my $100 in less than a week by mail. I will never step foot on their property again! Jim, the sales manager, was beyond description the worst dealership person I've ever met. I never test drove that Ranger and the whole reason why I called them back on Saturday was to let them sell it. Avoid this dealership!

Ok, nothing excused rude treatment, but both sides of the story need to come out. If you left a deposit to "hold" the car you effectively took that car off the market for whatever time you had the deposit. I'm not sure but think that Alexander Ford employs 15-20 salespeople that do not get paid hourly. While you didn't do anything to "devalue" the car you did take away any opportunity the other salespeople would have to sell that car for the given time. Put yourself in a salesman shoe's and imagine on Saturday morning you could've sold that truck and were told there was a deposit on it. Later after Jim tells you that the customer backed out, you call your customer back and find out they bought down the road. Not very fair is it? To give a dealer a bad rating because you didn't keep your word isn't very fair either.
