After negotiating a price online, I made an appointment to look at the vehicle. Even though I showed up late after sitting in traffic, the car wasn't ready for me to look at until about 1 hour after my initial appointment time. At that point, I was very annoyed and concerned about my son not eating (he has low blood sugar). When I asked what he could eat, I was told the on-site cafe closed 3 hours earlier and there was only an overpriced vending machine with chips and candy or complimentary water and coffee. From this point on, things got better. The salesman offered my son some extra pizza from the sales staff's dinner. After looking at the car, I decided to buy it as I needed a car and it was one of only three Forester 2.5 vehicles available with the Eyesight option within a 250 mile radius of home. It wasn't the color I wanted and had some options I didn't, but wanted Eyesight. The paperwork took longer than I expected, but not out of line for buying a new car. In the end, I noticed that the sales manager gave a $100 discount from the pre-arranged price as a courtesy (though the dealer still made a decent profit, as they should). In the end, I got a very good deal on a hard to find model. I was hoping they would accept a portion of the down payment on a credit card, but was told that corporate policy did not accept credit cards due to the fees.
