Bad sales tactics
Written by Mikesurd on 08/26/2016

Yesterday, My wife, son and I had an appointment to meet a salesman at Fred Beans Doylestown ford store. When we arrived another salesman approached us asking what we needed, we asked for the specific salesman we were directed too, this gentleman said that he would take care of us because the person we were to meet wasn't there yet. This Guy never introduced himself, he found our folder on the desk and directed us to his desk. At which time I saw his business cards and his name "Mike". he proceeded to take us to the lot to show us a specific ford Edge, but we stated we didn't ask for a specific car, we had seen multiple cars on their web site which fit our financial constraints, and with our trade in of another ford model we had purchased 6 months prior (which we dislike). the sales man told us that all of the cars in the price range we saw were sold, and that they have many other cars for a little more money. after test driving 3 different "certified" cars, (one of which clearly had a drive train malfunction despite the $25,000+ "certified" price. we sat down to discuss a sale's agreement. First we were given a trade in value on our 2013 escape, which was $8,000 less than we paid for a "certified ford" 6 months ago. He stated that their is a glut of 2013's coming off lease, "so ours wasn't worth as much". this left us with a gap in price which would have to be carried over, but he stated we would have to put down $4500 additional to get the used car that we didn't want in the first place. The Next thing he stated was that he could get us into a new 2016 they had (which had none of our package request). which would cost even more per month, But they would fully finance. This whole process took 4 hours, with him constantly running back to his "Manager" and leaving us sit there for 10-15 or 20 minutes. then my son inquired about another used vehicle which totally derailed any progress. now I find that the lesser priced cars we wanted to see in the first place, are still in stock after all. I don't believe lying to your customers to start a sale is an acceptable tactic.
