Great service, but no follow-up

I'm struggling a bit with this review. All of the customer service people's met were helpful and as far as I know the repair was done correctly, but when I took my car in a few months ago for a 60,000 mile inspection it was given back to me with no warnings or notes about anything that needed to be followed up on. I asked if everything was fine and I was told that it was. Then I brought my car in for a recalled part and one of the first things I was asked was whether I wanted my brakes done. I was confused. I asked what was wrong with my brakes and was told that the pads are worn out, which they wrote down the last time my car was there. I said not to fix them quite yet because I wanted to see if a friend could do it. When I came to pick up my car I asked how bad the brakes were and the woman who was checking me out looked at me like I was crazy and told me my brakes are fine. She pointed to one of those red/yellow/green inspection one-pagers and said if there was something wrong that it would be outlined on there. I took the stack of paperwork from her hands, went through it, and found notes (that were on her copy of the paperwork but not mine) saying that my brake pads were now down to 2mm AND my shocks are leaking. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!?!?! I guess I just expect t be given a status report every time I take my car in for repairs and I'm confused about why I'm not getting it at this dealer. It is seemingly in their best interest to have me pay them to fix things, so...
