Dealership Sales Review
I had a terrible experience today. To be fair, I waited to write this review verses writing it while I was very upset. I had been communicating with Alise since Wednesday about driving up to Cleveland to test drive a vehicle and have it inspected. I was under the impression that she was my direct salesperson. Wrong. Anyway, she told me she had cleared the inspection time with her manager. I then confirmed an inspection appointment with a local mechanic. Alise had even confirmed via email confirmation in addition to a text and phone call. My dad and I headed out early this morning on our three hour drive to NCAM. About five minutes out we received a phone call from Sean. Apparently he was the actual salesmen and not Alise. Not a deal breaker. Sean explains that he saw we have an appointment but the car was not ready and he believed it was getting aligned. My first thought is why wouldn't maintenance already be complete on a car that was on a lot for sale and or ready for a customer who is driving so far to see the vehicle. He told me he called me the day before. I recalled a 216 missed call. No message was left and when I called back, no one answered. Nor was an email sent to me, but a confirmation instead. Anyway, Sean placed me on hold and never returned nor called back. I immediately called Alise. She then explained that he was my salesperson and that she would see what was going on. She seemed empathetic but never called me back. Upon arrival we were greeted by a number of people. My dad and I were asked to take a seat with another guy. Not sure of his role. He looked me up and explained what was going on. He seemed empathetic and tried to help as much as he could without overstepping his boundaries, I suppose. Sean was all over the place, dismissive and still trying to locate the vehicle. At one point the guy whose desk we were sitting at called him and asked if everything was okay and if he needed to step in and assist. I guess Sean said no. Sean reappeared after a while. He explained that the car was on a test drive and how they could not refuse a test drive, despite a scheduled appointment. He asked if that was okay. I honestly replied "No," considering that I had a scheduled appointment and had driven three hours, not including the extra hour and half from my home to pickup my dad. Sean cut me off and explained that at the end of the day that is just how it is. At that point, I was over his poor customer service and condescending and arrogant attitude. The other guy was just looking like WOW. It was all over his face that Sean was terrible to us. Despite all of that, I stuck around a little longer because I was really interested in the car. Sean took me to his desk and started typing. He was pushy and asked if my inspection checked out would I be buying because a lot of people were all over the car. Not sure if that was a tactic or true but I was not feeling him at all by then. When I said I was not sure (because I had not even test driven the car) he took a deep frustrated breath. Sean left once again and the finance manager then appeared. He apologized and talked in circles about someone test driving the car. It was not until the very end of his spill that I realized that he was telling me that if the people who had walked in to look at the car was not interested, then we could look at it and take it for the already scheduled inspection. He also mentioned trying to get me financed. I never said that I needed their financing or that I planned to finance. Now remember I had scheduled an appointment with the dealer and mechanic. I had also made the decision to pay cash and had went to my bank the day before. However, at this point of the experience, I had experienced a lot of things one tries to avoid when purchasing a car. I walked out. Too many dealerships within a 200 mile radius to be treated like that. We were not customers, we were sales. Maybe other salesmen a cool there, not sure. I know I wasted my entire morning, gas, and time. Not to mention toll fees.
