Maguire Chevrolet Ithaca

When my traveling musician wife's van died in Ithaca we needed to replace it immediately. Trusting Maguire's description of a year old former rental Grand Caravan, we checked the online list of options in the vehicle and arranged the purchase. We weren't able to physically get to the dealership to see the vehicle because I am don't drive and my wife was busy working as a performer and instructor at a music camp. We had to make purchase arrangements by phone and get a bank draft to the dealership before seeing the vehicle. Big mistake. The salesman had misled us, wouldn't show us the vehicle until the paperwork was concluded then claimed he had an appointment elsewhere. Upon entering the vehicle we realized that many of the options that were listed as being on the car weren't. We had effectively been sold a different vehicle than the one we believed we were buying. The online listing by Maguire's was a bald faced lie. Among the list of options said to be on the vehicle were a rear view camera, blue tooth and upgraded stereo. None were on this vehicle. Despite the inconvenience and extra expense of another night's hotel we decided to return the vehicle the next day and try to find a replacement in the Maguire family of dealerships. We found one that had all the options we were supposed to get on the first van but the price was $2,000 more. Maguire's have a no haggle policy. After some arguments and discussion with the sales manager we paid $1800 additional for the second van. Subsequent efforts to inform the dealership of our experience went unheeded. This company is knowingly lying by posting options on their vehicle that don't exist. They made a number of other claims that were misinformed and caused us delays and inconvenience, such as telling us we couldn't cross over the Canadian border with temporary tags on the car, a fallacy that we heeded despite the extra expense and inconvenience it caused us. To conclude, this is not a dealership that I could recommend. They bait and switch, misinform and fail to acknowledge their mistakes.
