Dealership Sales Review
7/5/2008 Went to purchase a scion TC in a certain color prior to going I called the dealership to verify the car was in stock. They confirmed it's sitting in the lot right now. I got there (3 hours after the phone call confirming its in the lot), and turns out the car was sold 2 days ago. Okay fine, I decide to switch color to one the dealership had in stock and here is where the game started. After they ran my credit check, they only used 2 of the bureau (Experian and Transunion) and conveniently stated that's the only two they use (the other one EQUIFAX they didn't use was the highest credit score confirmed by visiting a different dealership). Scion has a no-haggle policy the posted advertised price on the internet and in the dealership is what you pay....Not according to this Dealership. They started quoting far different rates for financing than whats posted on their website. When i finally gave in to an interest rate of 6.94 @ 60month, (they repeatedly showed me their finance book stating that's the only interest rate available and they can't charge different since its Scion) . I told them to run the numbers and tell me the out the door cost. They come back with an interest rate of 7.19 for 75 months, plus about 1200 in fee's not including taxes. I asked him what happened to the previous rate, Dealer pulls out a printed excel sheet telling me, a new rate was just posted...and that's the best they can give me. I ask him about the extras he added to vehicle without me asking like Vehicle Etching ($699), he rambled on, on how its important and there is no way he can take that out of the sale since its on the car. I ask him to give me more detail about the $1200 in fee's, he mentions that covers prep, title, documentation, and other misc. I then ask him about the $300 in documentation fee listed else where in the pricing...he gives another story on how the doc fee is different from the $1200. At this point I have had about enough and begin to walk away. By magic he drops the Vehicle etching ($699). He then tries to mention what a great deal I am getting. LOL. Bottom Line. Don't believe what B.S. these guys will try to feed you, they tell you anything to get you in the door, then try to scam you with the numbers. At this dealership was a lot of back and forth and a lot of ("Ohh I said that, what I meant was this") Above all else, be diligent in checking the numbers. They tried to entice me with $280 a month, with a very long payback time and extremely high interest rate. Not to mention the astronomical fee's that just appears out of thin air.
