Lynnes Hyundai
Dealership Sales Review
I was lucky enough to complete a purchase under the first wave of the Cash for Clunkers program. I visited Lynnes Hyundai on the first Monday of the program. My salesman Akiem confirmed my eligibility and all of the necessary paperwork as if he had been doing this for years (I didn't realize it was the first day of the program.) Akiem dutifully told me about some of their special offers (which as we all know are rarely a good deal.) Once I told him that I was not interested, that was the end of it - he never brought it up again. I was somewhat interested in the Sonata SE, but ended up with the GLS base model. Again, he did not push me at all for the more expensive model. He managed to get me the car in the color I wanted from another dealer within a day. I picked up the car on Friday afternoon, which was the day that the government announced the cash for clunkers program would be suspended. The dealership was a madhouse that afternoon, but Akiem worked through some kinks calmly and patiently (One was my fault. I did not have proof of insurance for one year for my clunker, which was needed for the program, since I recently changed insurers and did not keep my old ID cards. We needed to call two different insurance companies to get the needed proof.) Maybe I was lucky with Akiem, but my sense at the dealership was there were a lot of salespeople who feel pretty good about their product.
