Werner Mazda

I used Edmunds to request a price quote for a new Mazda3 and received the following from Werner Mazda in Machester NH: "thanks for inquiring to werner mazda about our 2011 mazda 3 i sport with the automatic transmission....you have made a great choice in considering the mazda 3 to be your next car as mazda is currently offering cash rebates AND 0% financing for 60 mos. which will save you thousands in finance charges...i do have this model in stock in your choice of colors...the exact configuration your seeking has an msrp of $18,350.00 and i can sell it to you for only $16,758.00...this price does include all available rebates, incentives, and discounts....would you like to schedule an appointment to come in and test drive, or do you have any questions i can assist you with ?...let me know please....thanks, ...sales mgr" This sounded like a good price to me so I headed for the dealership. From the email it might appear that I was about to buy a Mazda3 for $16,758.00 with 0% financing, right? Wrong. When it came time to settle, the sales mgr raised the price $500 because I did not qualify for the rebate he applied and another $500 because I said I planned on financing half of the price. Overall it was a waste of an afternoon and I recommend that Edmunds stop using them for price quotes as they are disingenuous and just use them to get you in the door.
