Toyota Buyer for many years
Written by Toyota Crown Buyer on 03/20/2024

I have owned Toyota's for at least 25 years. I have purchase 3 corollas for my niece and nephews and a Camry for a sister in-law. My wife has owned Toyota's I have owned several Toyota's. The vehicle I traded in was a 2016 Avalon with 130K. I was a bit disappointed in my visit when purchasing my new Toyota Crown. The salesman and I clashed. Not over price or trade-in but we just had difficulty communicating. I had picked out the car I wanted (Toyota Crown) the day before. I came home all excited because I was going back to the dealer the next day to get my new car. I had gone to the bank that morning and had a cashiers check made out in full to MATICK Toyota for the purchase price of the vehicle. I cleaned my Avalon out at home and had the its title in hand. My appointment was for 11 AM at the dealer to meet with the salesman. After I got to the dealer I wanted to test drive the car before purchase. That is where the crap started. I couldn't drive the car because I couldn't find my personal car insurance or registration. I had taken them out of the car along with all my belongings because I was trading the Avalon in that day. The dealership had a policy that No other dealer I have ever worked with had. They wanted my Avalon insurance to cover the test drive of the car !!! I was pissed off to say the least. There I was with my 2016 Avalon Title and a check for the full remaining price of the new CROWN ($37,000.00) and I couldn't even test drive it. The sales guy was kind of an A** as he said that it wasn't his fault, I didn't have my paperwork together. Anyway, I left the dealer and headed 15 miles home to get the paperwork (Insurance) I had removed from the Avalon. After sitting at home for a few minutes I emailed the sales guy and said. "My new car experience just went to CH!T, I am no longer excited, I no longer wanted the car". After all, buying a new car should be a pleasant experience with some excitement. The sales guy apologized and told me he was under dealer policy and he was sorry about the way things started off. After about an hour of thinking it over I drove back up to the dealer with my Avalon insurance in my hand and was able to test drive the car, make the purchase and head home. I believe that Josh and I got off on the wrong foot and we had a personality clash. He may have had a bad morning also. People are humans and we all have bad days, right. However, I think that after the test drive and purchase I would go back and most likely buy a Tundra from Josh. I realize some people just do not see eye to eye and may have some friction before they settle in with a mutual understanding. After the sale Josh took the time to go over every feature of the vehicle and we got along great. The part that still boggles me is, when a customer comes in with cash in hand and already committed to a purchase, they should be treated a bit better. Even some exceptions made when they want to simply take a test drive of the vehicle they are purchasing. I have paid cash for my cars for the last 25 years. I don't finance or use other people's money. I am very fortunate as I am not dependent on a bank or credit union. There are a lot of Toyota dealers in the tri-county area. My wife's Outback is 4 years old and I want to get her a new Toyota Rav4. My Tundra truck has 140K and I want to purchase a new truck. I want MATICK Toyota to be my dealer in the future? At this point I probably would not recommend them to family or friends. However, that may change depending how the next visit for a new vehicle goes. I would like to add that Matick has done all my service work over the last 7 years. I have never had an issue when it came to servicing my Tundra or Avalon.
