Right Brand Wrong Dealer
Written by martymd21 on 06/07/2016

I purchased my 2014 Q50 Hybrid in April of 2016. The vehicle was certified, had all the options and was listed at a decent price. I initially contacted the internet dept however, only received auto responds from my inquiry. I attempted to reach the internet dept again to inform them that I would be visiting the dealer to test-drive the vehicle. Again, no response from the internet dept. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a great salesman that took me on a test drive and answered all of my questions. If it were up to me, he would have received my business however, I wasn't prepared to purchase that day. During my test drive, I noticed multiple issues with the vehicle. It smelled of heavy cigarette smoke, the were multiple marks on the vehicle from where it had been hit and had a heavy vibration during acceleration and high speeds. All of these concerns were expressed to the salesman who promised he would relay them to the Internet Consultant who I initially tried to contact. A few days passed and still nothing from the Internet Consultant. Against my better judgement, I contacted the consultant to see if he addressed the issues with the vehicle...FINALLY, he got back to me and promised that the issues would be address. Between that time and the Friday that I planned to take delivery, the Consultant and I exchanged a few emails and calls regarding pricing. Now this was an area I was pleased with. I told him where I wanted to be as far as pricing and after only one mention of holding off, he met me where I needed to be... All my worries were gone...or so I thought. I arrived at the dealership on Friday as planned to take delivery. The scratches to the vehicle had been addressed however, the cigarette smoke and vibration were still present. The consultant even attempted to tell me that the vibration was because of the sports suspension :-( Little did he know that this was not my first vehicle with a sport-tuned suspension. From there, more promises were made to address the concerns which would be done at a later date. Again against my better judgement, I decided to take delivery of the vehicle that day instead of after the issues were corrected...silly me. We moved on to financing (which I already had covered)where the plan was for me to take the car with me to the credit unit to pick up the check. Well this didn't go as planned. The sales consultant left me in his office several times not explaining what the issue was. To me, it was cut and dry... I got to the credit union with the purchase order and they cut me a check... Little did I know, the consultant had other plans. He had me fill out a credit app but said it wouldn't be ran... Took it back to the finance office and next thing you know, I get an alert to my cell that I had a Hard Credit Inquiry.... Well I'm pissed at this point.. I already had financing in addition, no one explained that my credit would still need to be ran on the dealership end.... I'm not a happy camper at this point.... The Internet Consultant apologizes again and finally gives me the keys so I can visit the credit union. Upon my return, I met with one of the Finance Mgrs who was to help me from there. As I was signing my life away, he started explaining the different warranties. I declined them and asked the terms for the Certification that was already on the vehicle....He corrects me and tells me that the vehicle did not have an extended warranty because it was not certified...What??? I know the vehicle was certified and I immediately pulled my phone to show him the information....At this point, the Used Car Mgr steps in and bluntly states that he removed the certification when the price of the vehicle was reduced......Well at this point, I felt like I had been tricked.. Nothing about the deal was adding up... Again, I'm not happy... The one saving grace was the Finance Mgr giving me the option to pull out of the deal since it had basically gone to %^&*... But me, not using my better judgement decides to carry on with it and make the purchase. Coming down the home stretch, it was discovered that the vehicle only had one key which was an issue for me...however, that great F&I guy promised me that he would see to it that I receive a spare. Skip ahead three weeks and I return the vehicle to have the vibration addressed. Come to find out, the front left rim is cracked!? Why wasn't this addressed prior to the vehicle being placed up for sale? Service dept gives me a loaner for a few days and promises that it'll be addressed. Days later, I pick up my vehicle and the vibration wasn't as noticeable however, the cigarette smoke was still present and still no key... Oh, and what happened to courtesy car washes after service?? I return to the dealer a month later for it's first oil change and to request that key that was promised. I also had some questions regarding the brakes and the keyless entry. Promises were again made by the sales staff that they would get back to me regarding the questions, but I knew that was a lie... After waiting for 2.5 hrs for an oil change and a spare key, I noticed...no wash again...but at least I had my key. During the service, they calmed to have completed a multi-point inspection... well not sure how true that is because just two week afterwards, Im noticing some brake-fade indicating that the rotor may need to be turned and the vibration is back...:-( I decided that I wanted to check my inspection sticker because all of these issues should have been addressed prior to being placed on-sale... However now, I have yet to find a MD state inspection sticker... Is it possible that JBA decided to take this traded vehicle and sell it as is without thoroughly inspection it? This is my second Infiniti so I know the brand makes great vehicles however, I think the dealership sold me a lemon... Or just a vehicle that wasn't thoroughly inspected prior to listing it for sale. At this point, I am an unsatisfied customer and will no longer patronize the business unless it's required. Hopefully, another local Infiniti dealer will take better care of its customers.
